I'm not sure what this water is in. If it is a pool or spa, the solution is to add chlorine, chlorine, chlorine.

Check your water inlet for the right pressure and then the water float valve for the right amount of water in the tub for washing. The tub has to have the right amount of water in it to pump it up to the top. It is also possible that the pump has debris in it that is restricting the flow. Clean out the screens and check the bottom of the washer tub for debris at the pump inlet. Use white vinegar to clean out your washer. Start your washer - open the door and pour in a lot of vinegar. Let it run for a few seconds and stop it. Let the vinegar work on the scale and debris. Start and stop it several times during the day - not completing the wash cycle until in the morning - after it has sat with the vinegar 10 -12 hours.

I have an Intex Krystal Clear Saltwater System, model CS8111. My problem is green water. I had been out of town for a few days and when I came home the pool was green. Also the low salt light was on. I...

If your salt is at the correct levels required for your pool and your still getting the "91" code on your LCD screen do not add more salt you need to clean the plates on the chlorinator. Look at your manual and it gives you instructions on how to remove, clean, and replace the chlorinator section on the pump. Reminder, if your PH and/or alkalinity levels are off you'll be cleaning the plates often because of the scale build up. I personally run my pump 4 hrs daily and I have never had a problem with green water however, once it did become cloudy (white) I began treating with algaecide and changing filter every 3 hrs. It cleared it right up. I love the Krystal Clear System.

Shock your pool ... take it to about 20 ppm and run the filter 24 hours a day. Brush the sides. When the pressure goes up 10 lbs over fresh start pressure, backwash or clean your cart as appropriate. Is your salt cell calling for more salt? Salt is persistent in the water (like CAL, salt doesn't just go away. The only way you loose either is by splash out and/or backwash.) If you dont know the level and your cell will not tell you, get tghe level checked at your pool place. You should have around 3200 ppm salt. Dont expect your salt system to keep up with the green stuff when the green stuff is established. You MUST use dry or liquid CL to overcome. You MUST brush the pool sides and bottom. You must run the filter 24 hours.

Between the green stuff and the sun, the CL your cell is making is consumed almost as fast as you make it.

Get your Cyanuric acid level to 80 ppm.

I hope this helps you ... Thanks for your interest in FixYa.com

1 Answer

I purchased an intex saltwater system, hooked it up, been running for 3 days now, and it has turned my pool water GREEN!!!!!!

It, did not turn your pool green. The pool was ready to turn green before you installed the intex system.
before having the system did you regularly use stabilizer? non foaming algecide? How long do you filter? There are so many variables. I will try to make it as easy as possible

We will address the salt system last right now you need to get your pool back to normal
Start by shocking it with 1-2 gallons of liquid chlorine let filter run during this time to stir it up
after 12 hours you need to brush the sides and bottom and then let settle
Now vaccum and then clean your cartridge with a strong blast from the garden hose
Start filtering again and at this point add the non foaming algaecide
the next day brush again and let settle vaccum again clean the filter again and continue this until the pool is clear

once it is clear you will want to use the algaecide once every 5-7 days.

Now a little fyi
Intex filters can not support the gl ph that is needed to keep a pool clean and crystal clear. All of there pumps are under rated for the gallon of pool that is sold with it

A pool needs to be turned over at LEAST 3 times in a 12 hour period
I will use generic #'s
If you have a 5000 gl pool and a 2500 gallon pump that is 6 hours minimum filtering time you do the math for your pool

You should also run the pump continuous. It is the only way to really filter efficiently with an intex pump

now for your generator
Although a good concept it is really a waste of money.
All the salt system does for you is to make it so you do not need to add liquid chlorine or tablets but you still need to add chemicals as mentioned above

get a test kit for salt water the ones that read #'s not color
get the salt to 3000ppm no lower than 2700 or you will not be able to produce enough sanitizer and any more than 3800 and the water tastes terrible and will usually trigger an alarm for high salt
once your pool is clear shoot for this

now to maintain it

Although you may be told otherwise this is what has worked for me for this being the 4th season with no green ever

I filter 24/7 with generating chlorine any where from 4-12 hours depending on the day.
chlorine consumption is created by many factors # of bathers heat sun rain people sneaking in with sun tan oil and so on you will need to figure out what is best for your situation
Dont forget to get a good stabilizer to help with holding the amount of chlorine in the pool usually about a pound per 5000 gl
as mentioned I also use the non foaming algaecide just follow the directions for your gl pool
I also use a water clarifyer that turns minute particles into larger particals that the filter can actually catch
and even though the filter may not look dirty clean it every day.
I use 2 one in the unit and one drying
Spray it out hard and let it dry overnight

Dont ask me why or how but a filter that is dry from the start filters better than a wet one put back in right away

Had you been doing all of this since you opened the pool the addition of the salt system would have worked fine

Good luck

My pool is green. why.and how do I fix it

according to your picture I see you are running the satand alone salt unit..
If you are running an intex filter/pump you are probably not getting enough filtration.
A pool turns green for many reasons such as not enough use to stir up the water
Not enough filtration
wrong levels of chemicals and so on

My suggestion
Start by testing your salt it needs to be as close to 3000ppm as possible
now shock your pool with either liquid chlorine or a substrate for your amount of gallons in the pool
After 24 hours of shocking brush your pool with a seperate pool brush sides and bottom
Do not depend on a pools vaccum with bristles you can not get enough elbow grease going to make it work well
now that it is brushed wait 24 hours and then vaccum.
Do this until the water clears
You also need to blow out the filter cartridge at least 3 times a day so that it cleans efficiently

once your pool starts to clear up again make sure your salt is 3000ppm
now make sure your ph is close to 7.6
and make sure you put a stabilizer in to help hold your chlorine level longer

I do not know what gallon your pool is so I will just use generic #'s to discribe what a pool needs

A pool need to be turned over at LEAST 3 times in a filter cycle so if you have a 2500gl ph pump and your pool is 5000 that is 6 hours of filtering alone
When you are generating salt you should count the 6 hours as half the intex units do not filter well while generating chlorine. you may be told differently by intex but I have had my set up for 3 seasons and have found what works for me
an intex pump draws as much electric as about a 40 watt light bulb
so I run mine 24/7

I generat my chlorine at the end of the day any where from 3 -7 hours depending on # of bathers, sun, heat, suntan oils and so on then I filter the rest of the time I also clean out my cartridge every day.
It is best to have 2 filters one in the pump and one drying. I do not know why but a wet filter after cleaning does not filter as good as a filter that has been clean and dried

Again for your problem now shock filter brush and repeat ti'll it clears up
Once a pool goes green it is a lot of work to get it back on track
hope this helps

CLOUDY SALT WATER POOL

salt does not solve your problem.
People do no realize that all the salt does for you is that it eliminates having to pour regular chlorine in.
Everything else stays the same as a normal pool with just plain ole h2o

The dilema is that intex filters are to small for the job that needs done especially in your case now that you have the dreaded green monster

your solution is to first get it cleared up
shock your pool with 2 gallons of liquid chlorine and then filter filter filter
You will need to brush the dead algea and vaccum once or twice a day for a couple of days and you must clean that cartridge 3-4 times a day with the garden hose
you will be surprised how much green it will trap

once pool starts to clear and the chlorine level starts to come back down from Mars you can start using your generator again.
you will need to find the amount of time thatorks for you but 3-4 hours will not cut it in the hot weeks

Chlorine consumption is due to #of bathers, heat ,sun, rain so any given day will dictate a different amount of generation needed keep it high so you do not get algea again about 3.0

you also got algea because you were not stiring up the pool enough you again need to filter filter filter every day
try to find some of my other postings with more specifics

Routine cleaning Mabis XP.

If your unit is the one pictured, he cup with the medication can be taken apart to be cleaned... the top unscrews and the nebulizer comes out....and should be done so after every use. Do not use house hold chemicals to clean the unit. Use a water/distilled vinegar mixture to clean, then rinse with clean water.
