Check if there are any drivers on the internet for it, maybe it needs them to be installed previous to connecting the mouse. Also, try plugin the mouse BEFORE you turn the laptop on, sometimes the laptops are faster to recognize new hardware when it's been plugged in beforestarting.

Mouse will not move items and keeps jumping around

As your PC is new, it's likely you have an optical mouse. Sometimes they are unable to sense movement on certain surfaces (glass, pure white paper etc). Try putting something under it - magazines or newsprint normally works well.

The in build mouse of my laptop is no funtioning again. how do i go about it

You have to tell us the brand and model of your laptop. Anyway, in new laptops there is a button close to the mouse that can be used to enable/disable the mouse. Find it press it once.
If it doesn't work, go to control panel, locate mouse (under hardware), and change the settings to see whether it is working.
In laptops it is not actually a mouse, but a touch pad.

If you're trying to use an external mouse for your laptop, you may need to download drivers for the mouse from the company that made the mouse. Look for the brand name on your mouse, and go to the maker's website to download mouse drivers.

Normal 0 Try disconnecting the Mouse Receiver from the USB port and reinstall the CD software program. When the program asks you to connect the Mouse Receiver to the USB port, do so and it should work.
