Question about Kenmore Elite HE4 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Thermal fuse Hi there, you said the thermal fuse was most likely the problem with the control panel issues on the Kenmore Elite HE4. Can you tell me how to change it out? Thanks, Pete

GEW9200 electric dryer turns fine but won't heat up. I tested the thermal fuse, thermostat, heating coil and they are fine. What am I missing?

If you have 240 VAC to the dryer, the control likely has a faulty relay for the heater. Provided all the thermal fuses (especially the one on the side of the element can) are good and the voltage supply is good, the control will likely need to be replaced and is available below.

Any known issues with the Kenmore Elite He4 Electric Dryer 11085089400?

Besides the thermal fuse, the thermistor, main control board, door locking system and the problems all over youtube and google, the dryer may last you about a year or so. That is if you only do laundry one a year. The HE4's are ****. Have both washer and dryer for about 5 years. I could now be a sears repair man with the amount of knowledge I had to digest while fixing these things. NEVER, NEVER again will I buy kenmore!

+I can select a drying cycle, panel lights go on, but when I close the door and push start I get a series of beeps and the cycle will not begin.

Hi

The issue seems to be either with the Thermal fuse which is located inside the rear panel to the exhaust duct or the control board itself has gone bad. You can take a voltmeter and check the thermal fuse for continuity, if it is open then replace the fuse else the control should be replaced to solve this issue. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

My Kenmore Elite HE4 Electric Dryer still runs but is not heating. The Manual says it could be 2 fuses or a circuit breaker but doesn't tell you where they are located. Where are the 2 fuses located?

it may be a reset switch on the motor, heating element or thermal fuse, here is a website that should help, Tim

My Kenmore elite electric dryer will not heat. I

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. No Heat issue in an electric dryer is usually caused due to three things mainly: Thermal Fuse, Wiring Harness and/or Heating Element. Start with checking the Thermal Fuse which is mounted inside the back cover panel to the exhaust duct and is mounted in white plastic housing. If that’s fine then the Heating Element should be checked. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

I have a Kenmore Elite HE4 dryer and it is not heating up. I changed the coil and cleaned out the lint. Is there a reset button?

If it isn't heating up but running otherwise, you probably blew the thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is often blown by the high limit thermostat going bad, and thus may need to be replaced also.

No heat

its complicated and not able to explain on this page but in any case the unit will have to be completely disassembled and if the igntr bad the thermal fuse ok but more than likely just the thermal fuse....... again its just more work than most people can perform but the first thing is the top has to come off first
