Question about Garmin zumo 550 GPS Receiver
I purchased my Garmin Zumo yesterday as a replacement to a Zumo that was stolen in my car, so this is my second Zumo, I know how it should work. seeing that my insurance company does not offer warranty on replacements, I need to get this fixed ASAP.
It was fine out of the box for one route on the crade in the car, then I took it out of the car. 6 hours later, I got back in my car and hooked the Zumo back into the cradle, only to find it would not power on at all. there should be some battery left to turn on, but it is dead. Just now I hooked it up to my laptop via USB and it all of a sudden gave me a screen with teh Garmin Zumo logo. Now it powers on. would like some help if this is a normal thing, or try and getit replaced.
This sometimes happens if the cradle is owered while you connect the zumo...i guess it hits some wrong contacts first and goes bonkers. I'd advise th zumo users to pack a small allen screw bit to unscrew the battery, just in case it freezes or blacks out again....better safe than lost in the middle of nowhere!

I had a similar problem. When it failed, it was in the dash mount cradle, with the power connected. It worked when I shut the car off, but would not power up when I restarted the car. Removed the battery, then reinstalled it. Now back to working normally.
