Question about RCA P52926 52" Rear Projection Television
The first instinct on a symptom like this is the front control buttons are damaged. at the shop to check this we would unplug the front button cuircit board and if it goes away then we would attempt to repair or replace this control board/.

Yes. Its probably a stuck button on the TV's front panel. Try pushing or wiggling each button on the panel. It could be the channel up/down buttons or volume up/down, menu, etc.
When there is a button that is making slight contact, it keeps the microprocessor busy attending to the command its erroneously receiving from the offending button and may not allow other functions to work when this occurs.
It doesn't matter which button is stuck, any of the symptoms you describe can happen.
