I am using the orignal remote for my TV VCR and DVD combo player. lately the remote control works intermitently. I have replaced the batteries twice and checked the contacts any other suggestions. Or is there a way to check the remote or reprogram it? thanks

the easiest way to check all remote buttons is here
just open the camera of ur mobile phone or any other digital display camera.
place your sensor (IRLED) of remote infront of the camera so that u can see the sensor from ur camera.
just press each button one by one and u will see light emitting from that sensor in your camera.
if all button emitt light then it is confirmed that remote is ok, the problem is in tv reciever (Photodiode or phototransistor).
but see the light intensity. is it glowing high or low.
if low then u have to change the health battery.

4. Use the Manufacturer's Codes (starting on page 18) to
locate the type of device and brand name and then enter
the first four-digit code for your device. If performed correctly,
the LED will blink twice.
NOTE: If the LED did not blink twice, repeat steps 2 through 4 and enter
the same code again.
Aim the remote control at the device and press POWER
once.The device should turn off. If it does not, repeat
steps 2 through 5, trying each code for your brand until
you find one that works. If it still doesn't work, try
Searching For Your Code on next page.
NOTE: If the device does not have a POWER key, press PLAY

Auto Code Scan:
1.On the remote control, press TV once.

4. Aim the remote control at the TV and slowly press POWER button.Stop when
the TV turns off
5. To lock in the code, press and release SET.The LED will

6. To search for the codes of your other devices, repeat steps
1 to 5, but substitute the appropriate device key for the device you are
searching for.
