Try replacing that evap thermistor. The diagnostics on thermistors can be wrong. If it is rounded on the end, replace it. There is a damper between the freezer and refrigerator. There may be a refrigerator fan motor in the damper assembly, It could be bad. It could be a bad control board. When you run diagnostics there is one function that checks all the fans.

GE ARTIC PROFILE REFRIGERATOR....INTERMITTENT HEATING

Sarct, the question is, was the freezer side ok, if it was, I would suspect the damper not opening. If the freezer side was warm too, then I would suspect the evaporator thermistor not sending the signal to the board to terminate the defrost. Have the tech first check the continuity at connector J3. He should have 400ohms at J3-1 to J3-2 and the same at J3-3 to j3-4. If he doesn't get those readings have him check at the damper motor itself. If he doesn't have it there, replace the damper motor. If the damper motor passes all the checks then it's on to the evaporator thermistor. Have him check the resistance. At 5 degrees it should ohm at approx 36K ohms. The evap thermostat is redundant to the defrost operation. It's there as a back up in the event the evap thermistor fails to terminate the defrost. It's normally closed and will open at 140 degrees.

water line going to dispenser. If you cannot set the temperature a little warmer this can be caused by a defective W10196393 Auto Damper This problem also can be caused by the fresh food section 12002355 Thermistor The thermistor is a electronic way of measuring temperatures in fresh food section, freezer and ice maker also have thermistors.
Here is a ABC2037DES Tech Sheet with the diagnostic's
for thermistor's and the auto damper, I will help you if you like so please let me know if you have questions, Thanks Sea Breeze

there's a temp sensor on the evap coil part WR55X10025,i would change that out and when you changed the board if there's a wire in the second pin of the connector with ithink 9 pins on it you have to cut the wire that's in the second pin,if there's no wire in the first pin but one in the second pin then leave it alone, look at the paper that came with the board and it will tell you what connector it is,let me know what you find, the old sensor has like a black piece on it where the wires come out of it,the new one is all white but you should change the sensor when you change out the board

Ice melting in ice maker

Remove the food from the lower shelves , so the inside rear lower freezer panel can be removed ( only 2 or 4 screws ) .
The # 4 thermistor or # 5 thermistor is bad . # 4 tells the main control board , the temp of the coils , if they need defrosted and when they are thru defrosting . This thermistor is the 1 " long , torpedo looking piece , clipped on the top left of the coils , with 2 white wires going to it . Part number WR55X10025 . It would be advisable to also replace the # 5 thermistor , located at the bottom of the freezer , slightly in front of the drain , also with 2 white wires going to it , slid into a housing . This thermistor , is the freezer thermistor , which tells the control board , the freezer temp and when to cycle off / on , due to temp setting .

HELP!!__CALLING ANY GE FACTORY TECHS

You say " all thermistors check fine " , how did you check them ? Did you check for the 5-8 DC volts at the main control board , for the thermistors ? Did you do the diagnostic check for the thermistors from the control panel ? I'm sure you know there are 5 thermistors , since the refrig has the dual evap . Possibly the # 5 is bad , since it is the freezer temp " controller " , yet if it tells the board it's not cold enough , it still sends refrigerant to the refrig evap . Since the refrig evap has 2 fan motors , can't remember if there is a damper there also . Maybe when the # 3 thermistor is satisfied , it only cuts the fans off , even though refrigerant is still going thru the refrig evap .

Frig stays at 29 degrees when digital tempeature at 40

With no model number , I can only give you the diagnostic concepts . You need to check the thermistors 1 - 5 , to determine if they are good . Either thru the diagnostic code , or thru the main control board , by checking the resistance and the DC voltage of each thermistor . If you have a dual evap , all 5 thermistors have to be good . If no dual evap , only the # 1 , # 2 , # 4 , and # 5 , are checked .

It sounds like the # 4 thermistor is bad . You will have to remove the lower inside rear freezer panel ( 2 or 4 screws ) and on the top of the coils , you will see a 1 " long torpedo looking piece , clipped on , with 2 white wires going to it . Part number WR55X10025 . This thermistor , tells the maon control board , the temperature of the freezer coils ( evaporator ) and when to defrost and when to stop defrosting and turn the compressor back on . There is also a defrost thermostat which cuts the heater off to keep from over heating , but I do not believe this is part of your problem . You should also replace the # 5 thermistor , located behind the oval grill , mounted on the lower right side of the freezer . This thermistor , tells the main control board , the temperature of the freezer section .

Appears to go into an extended defrost cycle.

Sounds like your freezer has a bad defrost thermostat ( bimetal ) or bad #4 and/or #5 thermistor . This bimetal , has a high temp rating of 140 degrees , which means , when it gets to 140 behind the panel , it will cut off the defrost heater , to keep ice and food from thawing . The thermistors , tell the main control board the temps , and it decides when to restart the cooling process . I would check the thermistors by the digital controls , in the test mode , or have a technician check them for you .

Evap. blower motor not running.

You have a bad main control board . Usually on HSS models , when one of the fans don't work , its due to burnt resistors on the board (not the motor) . only way to fix , is replace the board .Patr # WR55X10656
