Shift lock release

There should two brake switches located above the brake petal, one is designed to activate the rear brake lamp relay, the second would be the park/neutral safety switch which may be defective and failing to activate the shift handle release relay. You can test this by first turn the ignition key forward then jump the two wires behind the switch, you should then hear the transmission shift handle lock release. If this is heard, the switch has failed and requires replacement.

Cannot remove handle from Hoover Dual-Power Carpet Washer

Cannot remove handle or release handle?
Release from the center pedal at the rear of the unit. Rove the handle with 2 long narrow bolts located near the half way point from handle grip to the base; don't loose the two small nuts or you'll have a bad time.

Service 4wd error message

Might be a vacuum leak, might be a loose actuator onthe transfer case, it might be hub not releasing. This last one can be checked by putting vehicle in 4H, then with transmission in neutral, back to 2H, and then back the truck in a straight line about 20 feet. This would release the hubs fully in most cases. If the light goes out, the hubs are getting are worn.

You need to repair your transmission before it totally damaged. You're correct that the noise is coming out from you transmission frictions. Just get it repaired at dealer.

Ford NC 1993. 1 time in 5 ish I have to release

More likely to be the Neutral safety stitch out of adjustment.

Moving the E-Brake only slightly moves the Shifter handle at the same time.

Try moving to Neutral then starting the vehicle.

Hope this tip helps.

My 1990 jeep cherokee has no reverse and neutral engages drive

The linkage system is loose or worn out.

Go to a car wash or hose of the underside of the Jeep will speed up troubleshooting.

To troubleshoot it you will need someone to do the shifting on the console and you at the transmission selector on the transmission.

Look for loose linkage as your buddy shift.

Move the linkage back and identify loose/wore parts.

Lube moving parts with WHITE LITHIUM GREASE will help.

The neutral safety switch can stick with dirt.
Take your time to free the dirt.
