How much head of water are you trying to lift? If the volume of the suction pipe is greater than the prime case volume, the pump may be emptying the prime before it can lift sufficient water to create a flow. If this is the case it would pay you to fit a foot valve (non return valve) at the bottom of the inlet pipe. This is on the assumption that the pump impeller is turning and the shaft is not sheared etc.

Where can i find fuel pump diagram for briggs 18 hp twin engine

I think your wanting to find the fuel pump diafram which once those fuel pumps that's mounted on the front or side at top of motor go bad and stop pumping, better off just to buy a new one they run about 10 or 12 bucks and your on your way,you should prime it a little so you don't run battery down or make starter hot!

Does this pump Dynamo DYN 11-n1-1 serial no 1-23-JO9 have to be backwashed and if

Pumps don't need to be backwashed, some filters do. Sand and DE filters need to be backwashed when the filter pressure has increased to 10 or 11 psi. depending on the manufacturers recommendation. The cartridge filter cannot be backwashed but instead it is removed and a hose sprayer is used to clean out the dirty outside. Your pump does need to be primed so it is not trying to pump mostly air. Each time the pump basket area is low in water then it needs to be primed. You will know how low it can go before it needs to be priming by turning it on when it is low and if it cannot start pumping water at full rate then at that level of water it needs to priming. If it is pumping water at full flow and you turn it off it should not need re-priming because there is enough water in it to force the air through the system. I hope this helps.

I have a 23hp briggs on a mud motor runs perfect out of the water. 3880rpm at wide open out of the water. in the water it get 2600 rpms just dont seem to be doing all it can do when you put it in the...

What you describe sounds like a load issue. In absence of other engine issues, too much "purchase" of your pump would render conditions like you describe. In marine applications, we would switch to a different pitch propeller to load and unload the engine.

However, 2600 does not sound too bad for a loaded, full throttle set up.
I suggest that you check with the tech department at the manufacturer and see what they think is the desired RPM.

One other item to look at is often engines are throttled by a wind govenor, at the flywheel. Often you can tweak the linkage connecting to the throttle plate and achieve a higher loaded RPM.

Hi my pump won't prime or pump every thing is free and spining but won't pump

4 possible problems: 1. Was the pump filled with water first. 2. Make very sure that there are no air leaks on the suction hose and connectors. 3. Try less vertical lift on the suction side. It can be increased when primed. 4. Check for blockages or damage to the impeller.

I have a very old agricultural wheelbarrow sprayer on which a Briggs & Stratton engine drives a Comet MC15 pump (serial no. 26-49-5486). The engine runs but the pump does not operate. Is this pump...

Many times I have had to change the pipe on a pump to make it easy to prime. usually there is an elbow on top of the pump. What I do is take the elbow off and replace it with a tee. Then the pipe
going straight up I would put a ball valve on it. They are quick closing. Open the ball valve fill the pump with water, then close the valve. You can do this while the pump is running. But watch out
for water squirting out the top, that's why the only way to go is with a ball valve.

Hope this helps.

I have a Generac power washer with briggs and stratten 4.5 Horse. I bought it 7 years ago and stored it. I started for the first time today, it started on the first pull and runs great, but doesn't pump...

I hope you did have it connected to a water line. I'm also assuming the pressure washer function is working ok. Some times the sypon tubing gets clogged from cleaners drying up and building up in tubing and passageway. Does your gun have a cleaning on/off function sometimes by twisting handle? If you have an extra hose, try forcing some water in the tubing while trying to apply solution. If all else fails, clean all solution passageways.

My 18 hp vanguard is making oil,( oil level is rising) is not carb as it starts and runs good. any chance of bad fuel pump?

if the diaphragm in the fuel pump gets a small hole in it , it will still run, but **** fuel into the crankcase, the fuel pump is serviceable, and easy to rebuild, a new diaphragm kit is fairly cheap at any local saw shop, just remember to take the model number off of the engine so they can look it up, and sometimes its a good idea to take the pump in with you to match it..
