To Enter Service Mode : Menu - Scan - Copy - Scan

Press right arrow until the screen shows #7 Printer - press OK
Press right arrow until it reads - # 5 INK ABS CAPA - press OK
The screen will read Suction (to the left)and 100 (or some lower number) to the bottom right -

Try this manual resetting of error

Try this manual resetting of error.

    Please try this solution.

Remove the USB cable into the printer and leave the printer on.
    Remove all the cartridges.
Close the cartridge door and wait for the INSERT INK MESSAGE to appear.
Disconnect the power cable and from the power source supply.
Now open again the printer door. Move the carriage using your hand from the original position to the other side of the printer and then move it back to original position. Wait for couple of minutes
Reconnect power cord and turn on the printer.
Return all the ink cartridges and close the door. Wait for the calibration process.
Print the test page to check if it working.
Reconnect the USB cable and try to print again.

If still the same, are you using original CANON ink cartridges. Make sure because using compatible or remanufactured ink cartridge will cause damaged for printer. Or make sure you are using correct canon ink cartridge.

Also, try to clean dry cotton swab the contact wires with at the printhead and in the ink cartridge.

Another is that there is available in the market for small amount an ink resetter to detect the ink cartridge. If the ink cartridge is new, try to return to the manufacturer for free replacement telling them that is does not recognized the printer.

Make sure the power cable is connected, otherwise it will not light up or power up your printer.

MP 780 displays error message "Wrong Cartridge" How do I fix and reset this error message,

Wrong cartridge on Canon means the printhead has gone bad, nothing to do with the inks. You just need a new printhead. The part number is on the side of the printhead and starts with QY6-

Won't print black ink text; looks like faint watermark print; ran all maintenance check several times (nozzle checks, etc)

Remove the black cartridge and soak it with an alcohol free window cleaner soaked paper towel let it sit on the towel for a good thirty minutes then wipe clean and put back in printer run nozzle check if necessary.

Substitute ink cartridges no longer work

I have the same problem and many Canon users , i try a trick that mayby solve this and last but not least ... Mayby the only cheap solution for all print users !! jumping-smiley-004.gif

My problem .. was looking for a cardrige solution ( IP4300 ) because 4 (of 5) cardrige leds are dimmed off and need to be replaced . I just order 5 adopters and 5 new with chip for all the five cardrige . Problem : The chip uses memory and that makes it very hard to reset . But i have thinking .. mayby this is somthing ..

What you read is new, experimenting with this idea is all at your own risk !

Here is a simple markable solution Unique !!

A - First you need all 5 brandnew cardrige with chips ( please keep all ink preventions inplace )

B - You need is a 4 poles - 1.50 / 2.50 meter +/- telephone cable

C - (five) (new) OEM cardrige without chips

D - Tin and a somthing to solder

E - 5 old chips for adopting the connection outside the printer

F - A box for the 5 new chiped cardriges

Procudure :

1 ) Make of 1,5 / 2,5 meter a 5 pcs of 30 / 50 centimeter

2 ) Solder on each lengt a old chip (this is functioned as a adopter) but first remove all the (useless) electronic components and place them on the cardriges

3 ) Solder the other site of the cable to each new chiped cardrige cq / toner that still sits on the new orriginal cardriges ( our make a alternative contact if you dont want to solder )

4 ) Tape the 5 new cardriges together and *

5 ) Put it in the box and give it a save unremovable place **

6 ) Put the (5) oem cardriges with the empty old chips ) in the right ink location(s)

* ) Looking into the new cardriges : this needs a box because of the intervering with the led this not only makes it nicer but mostly because of the outside light influence .

** ) Dont turn the kid upside down our shake it . If you do , the led indicates that the cardriges are empthy our low and the countdown proces for the chip will start !

I wait for arrive of the new ones, anybody who try make a handshake !

See you soon
