Question about Sylvania SDVD1023 Player

1 Answer

I just bought a new SCVC1023 yesterday and have played several dvd's and the images of moving people leave "tracks" behind them on the screen. Even something as simple as someone on the movie lifting a fork to their mouth. Every dvd I have played does this....like something is moving too fast. Has anyone had this problem? Is there a fix? Thanks. Harriet Kilpatrick

Have a Toshiba RDXV60KB. Will play some prerecorded vhs vids but not others. It's as is the tracking is out. Can I manually adjust the tracking or is it back to the repairers.

Many if the unit has a vol or channel buttons those will when in play become manual tracking adjustments, it depends if they are there or not.

Hp pavilion g windows 7 wont play dvd

Hello,

Try booting to safe mode and try playing your DVD there. If it doesn't work, then try updating the driver of your DVD player by going to the device manager. If no go, then try resetting the DVD player by removing it and putting it back in.

If it doesn't work, then you might need to buy a new one.

By the way, do you have RadarSync in your computer already? RadarSync automates your computer's driver updates. If you don't have it yet, then I suggest that you install it so that you can avoid from having outdated drivers and device drivers related problems.

I have a Sylvania sdvd7015 that had the 120v wall adapter cord crack and short out while a DVD was playing. The screen stopped playing and gradually faded to white and then went black. The car charger...

I have serviced a lot of portable dvd players, when the adaper shorts in the manner you describe it usually takes out the pcb board making it not cost effective to repair, far cheaper to replace the whole unit.

Hi. I have had this player for less than 3 months. The player is now not reading dvd's - old, new, or homemade. It says it is "loading" then "cannot play disc." It still plays...

If you have had it for 3 months it is more than likely still under warranty. In many instances it may need a replacement optical pickup or optical assembly.
Depending on where you bought it from, as well, you may be able to take it in and get a replacement.

Getting message - "can't read" & "no disk"

sounds like the laser is out of synk with the encoders inside the player, to fis this you will need to disconnect everything from it, unscrew it and carefully move the lase all the way to the outside of its track, BE CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH THE LENSE WITH YOUR FINGER, you may also wish to clean the lense while you are in there anyway. To do this dip a cotton swab in Isopropyl alcohol (the kind you use for cuts and scrapes), and roll the tip accross the lense of the laser, just let it air dry. Reassemble the player and it sould be good to go.

Panasonic DMR-ES36V I was recording a VHS to DVD and the tracking went out of wack... Now any VHS I play it wont track properly. Any ideas? I have tried the tracking button and no luck. Again it doesnt...

Being a VCR/DVD recorder combo unit, the tracking issue is usually mechanical, and can be caused by any one of a number of things, including guides.

Unless you are tech. savvy with years of experience, this repair really should be undertaken by a qualified technician in a fully equipped service workshop, as some of the parts, if they need to be replaced, can only be obtained via them. The other worry is the expense.

In your case though, it sounds very much like a faulty guide (some service agents refer to these as 'base incline units') assuming the playback picture has noise bars but the speed is otherwise steady - replacement/alignment should be done by a technician - submit your unit to a workshop, tell them the problem, get a quote, and second opinion on the likely parts/labour costs involved, then make a decision afterwards on what action to take. Up to you.

(these decks use a belt between the capstan and the clutch flywheel under the mechanism - the workshop may replace the belt as well, since these stretch over time; which can also cause tracking issues)

In any case, the workshop second opinion and quote will tell you more. You should not need a new unit.
