Question about iLO MP3 Player
I just bought a sylvania smpk4066 mp3 player and i can't get the music on it....I spent the hole day yesterday trying everything and nothing worked when its pluged in and go it to it files it says there music on it in seperite files and when I unplug it,It says theres nothing on it..Please help me
The problem is the files.
What I'm doing right now is going through the files, cutting and pasting the individual mp3 files (Not the folders) to a temp file, deleting the artist and album folders from the player, and cutting and pasting them back into the player.
This is very labour intensive.
The player will look at how many folders (artist) sub-folders (album) then songs. When it hits 500 it stops looking. I had about 100 artists with several albums for most. It would only list 2 songs. I've deleted several artists (and sub-directories) and copied the songs onto the player (no folders) now I'm up to about 20 songs.
The "easiest" way to load the player is to copy/paste individual mp3's onto the player.
I'm looking for a firmware upgrade but I don't think I'll find one. The players seem to be made by Curtis International ( www.curtisinst.com )

Actually u have to get a USB cable. first plug in the USB cable to your computer and then your mp3 then go to my computer you will see a hard drive named removable disk and it will have a letter beside it click on removable disk and open it up but first if you want songs you have to install a software on the internet called lemonwire it is the best download it and then open it up and download your songs on it then highlight them all and click and hold at the same then drag the songs into the removable disk folder then it will say writing on your sylvania mp3 when your done take the usb cable out (yoou can download as much songs as you want one time but it matters what GB you have if you have a 4gb it can only hold 500 songs or 30 folders if it is 2gb then you can only hold 250 songs or 15 folders its the same instructions in the manual but it is just harder to read in the manual ur welcome have any questions email me at firstname.lastname@example.org btw i am only 11 years old i learned how to do computer stuff at the age of 6 without getting computer lessons tell me anything and i will help no problemo!

Curtis international does not support their products, their support is terrible, their ??techs?? only know how to walk you through their support webpage, buy a name brand, you pay for what you get.

I have the same mp3 player with the same problem. First, it doesn't like folders, so only put the songs on, not the folders they are in. Drag and drop seems to work the best. Most other programs will copy the folder as well. Second, even though it is 4GB (at least mine is) it can only read just over 500 files (on mine this is just over 2GB). I dragged and dropped 620 files. My player reads that there are 515 files. I also put the songs in a folder called music. I'm not sure if that is needed or not, but it seemed to have worked. I have spent way too many hours trying to deal with this stupid mp3 player so I am really happy that I finally managed to get some music on there!!!

I'm wondering if there are any format requirements for the MP3, maybe certain bitrates it supports? I recently purchased the same MP3 Player. I created a folder called MUSIC at the root and placed my files and folders in there. I can play 2 out of the 5 artists that i've placed in there. It's odd. The manuals from Curtis says nothing about it.
