Solved my own problem! Switch was not bad. Small retaining spring for off balance lever that connectes to lid-open actuatator assembly had broken. Obtained a similar spring at Ace Hardware and fixed problem. Had to take off front of washer, then open top of machine for access. To replace entire lid actuator assembly, here is part info:Unbalance Lever and Lid Switch Actuator Assembly: PartSelect.com Number PS2019934 or Manufacturer Part Number 22001969, about $4.50 for assembly. $1.29 for spring at Ace Hardware. Hope this can help someone else.

The right lid lock if broke does not need repair, the left side is the one that tells the machine lid is open,My right side does not work and I am not replacing it. If it is stuck in the lock position cut it at the latch

SOURCE: Maytag Neptune Lid Lock Replacement

To open the top of the Washer ther are two spring clips catches in the front holding the top closed. Use a putty knife to depress the spring catches. Slip the putty knife into the seam between the cabinet and the top. The catch is located on the left and right edge of the lid, about five inches in from each side. Depress the catch and lift the washer top, then depress the second catch. the top will hinge to the back of the washing machine. I think that the maytag neptune Fav series has two of the lid lock. a left and right and two magnets. but you will see them when you get it open .. be sure to unplug the washer before you do any work on it.. good luck and let me know how you do.. krazytech

SOURCE: kenmore washer lid switch bypass failure.

HI. Check and see if you might have tripped the breaker. If there is a ground fault outlet close by. check that as well.
It sounds like you bypassed it properly. Try and reconnect the wires with the wire nut. Sometimes it doesn't connect properly.
I hope this helps you.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic

Washer will not spin r drain model whirlpool la7680xmwo

Sounds most likely a broken/defective lid switch. The lid switch on a top-load washer is a safety switch that detects whether the top-load washer lid is closed. The lid must be closed when the basket spins; some top-load models require that the washer lid be closed before the washer drive motor runs (thus no draining). If the lid switch isn't properly detecting whether the lid is closed replace the switch.

Washing still wet at the end of the cycle

If the machine is a top loading washer a common cause for this problem is the safety switch in the top lid door. If the switch fails to close because the lid is up or switch failure then the washer will not go into the spin cycle. A projection on the top lid enters a hole allowing the closed lid to activate the safety switch.

On older models the switch activation produces a distinctive click. A small dry wood stick could be used to gently push in to the hole while listening for the distinct click of the switch.

  • Than carefully closing the lid should produce the same sound. If no sound is produced as when manually bypassing would indicate that the tab on the lid or the switch position has been out of location or the switch is broken

If the tab has broken off the lid or the switch is either out of position or failed the parts will need to be replaced.

I put the clothes in washer it filled up but it would not start agitating Model # is LAT9605AAE and serial # is 13670953My Thank You

The lid switch may be out of adjustment or broken. Open the control panel and locate the lid switch. With the control panel open look at the lid switch mechanism as you open and close the lid. Make sure the slide is making contact with the lid switch.
If your model has a fuse on the lid switch verify the fuse is not blown.

Need to replace Lid Switch for Maytag Atlantis 2002 Washer

Hello, I can help you.

Let me explain to you how the Maytag washer lid switch works.
The lid switch is located on the controls panel, and is activated by opening and closing the washer door. The purpose of the lid switch is to prevent the washer from working with the door open.

It is a safety device to prevent the user from sticking their hands inside of the washer while the washer is agitating or spinning.

When the washer lid switch stops working, the result could be that the washer won't wash, drain, spin and in some cases the washer will not work at all.

You will need a multimeter to check the internal contacts on the washer lid switch.

You will also need to use the wiring schematic to see what contact should be close when the lid switch supposed to be on.

You will need to remember that the Maytag washer lid switch is one of the first parts that you will need to check, when the washer don't want to start filling, agitating, draining or spinning.

Broken Machine-Kenmore 70 series Washing Machine

This is commonly caused by a lid switch malfunction. If your model number is correct, the lid switch for your washer is located under the right hand side of the washer casing along the wash tub rim. The switch is activated by a small plastic piece on the washer lid (called a "lid strike") through a small hole. The switch contacts close when you shut the lid. In many cases, the lid switch either comes loose, or the lid strike breaks off. In both cases, the washer will exhibit the symptoms you describe. Open and close the washer lid and listen for a distinctive "clicking" sound as the switch contacts close. If you cannot hear the switch, make sure the lid strike is intact and the mounting screws for the lid switch (located around the wash tub opening on the casing) are tight. Sometimes, all it takes is to tighten the lid switch screws to realign it with the lid strike. If the switch is defective, or the strike is missing, parts can be ordered on line at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your COMPLETE model number, which can be found on a nameplate under the washer lid. The lid switch and lid strike will be listed under the "Top and Cabinet" heading. Other sites that offer competitive pricing are repairclinic.com and appliancepartspros.com. If you require instructions on how to replace the switch, you may use the following link:

If you have questions, or if the diagnosis is incorrect, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.
