Question about Samsung SyncMaster 913N 19" LCD Monitor

3 Answers

My SynMaster 913N seems impeccable when it has not been on for a long period. When I turn it on, it works for some time - half hour. Then I get this message: "Not Optimum Mode Recommeded Mode 1280 x 1024 60 HZ" But I've already put mode on these values. So what kan I do?

You can see this message when the signal from the video card exceeds the maximum resolution and frequency that the monitor can handle properly.
When "Not Optimum Mode","Recommended Mode 1280 x
1024 60Hz" message comes up, disconnect the cable from the computer while the monitor is still
powered on.If there is a message coming up on the screen or if the screen goes white, this means the monitor is in working condition. In this case, check the computer for trouble.
Try to change the screen refresh rate ..to 60Hz .>http://support.microsoft.com/kb/311403

Welcome to Fixya

Boot the computer to safe mode (hit F8 while computer booted up and then selected "safe mode"), changed the display resolution to 1280 x 1024, accepted change (screen reflected this) and then rebooted normally.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Hi grsi,
This kind of symptoms must be isolated between the monitor, computer(video card), and VGA cable.
First ensure the cable connection from your monitor and the computer. You must swap/try another cable as much as possible. If the unit still persist, try your unit to other computer to isolate the video card from fault. If the symptoms does not appear in other computer, this was caused by the video card on your computer. You must pull-out this card to the mother board and clean the lead.
Let me know if the symptoms still there...

Most likely is an intermittent solder connection opening up as set warms up.

Hook a spare monitor to your computer, if okay! the problem is in the SynMaster, but if both show the same it indicates a video graphics card problem in the computer, Hook your SyncMaster to the computer and change the video cord from the computer to the monitor just to be sure. If no change! it is time to replace the monitor "the LCD panel is defective" not cost effective to repair.

Syncmaster 913v not optimum mode

I just resolved this problem for my SyncMaster 913N.
It seems to be a known issue, however it can take quite some time for the problem to occur. In my case about 3,5 years, so well out of warranty.

Short term solution: unplug your monitor from power. The switch on the front is not good enough. Pull the plug and leave it for an hour or so (all night if you can). Good chance the monitor will work next time you power it up.
The problem will is likely to come back..

Permant fix requires some basic soldering as per this video:

I just managed it and it has been ages since I soldered a resistor so you may very well be able to do it. I spent $25 on tool and part and saved me from buying a new monitor.

Wont start mornings when warm starts good for a few times then wont again an also got i think engine management light come on in the dash when runing it comes on an off about half an hour apart

hi you need to get a reading off a fault code reader to find out what is causing the light to come on the engine manament light works off detecting not an individual fault it has to recieve this fault on 3-4 occassions before the light comes on if it doesn,t recieve a fault reading in a certain period of time it will presume the faults been fixed and the light goes out but 30 min period seems not enough time to for a reset the fault code reader should be able to store the fault code even ifs its not happening at the time but would be better if you can get the reading while the light is on yates210456

Same here. The unplug/inplug of the monitor seems to be the workaround. For now, I boot up Windows with the 913 unplugged and connect it after a couple of minutes when Windows has booted up. As mentioned before, this bug only happened to me after shifting to a PCIe card, Nvidia 6600 LE driver.
