I have a el/gas water heater with ign. switch in cabin switch does not come on when WH does not ignite also the cabin heater doesn't ignite either, are both ign. units normally on same circuit ?

I would start with the thermocoupler that is or usually located behind a removable panel on the WH and check the other items for one also.

What could be wrong?

Give more detail on issue. It just stopped working one day? But was fine until then? How old is unit? Are you sure gas is turned on to unit? Etc. good people on this site to help, but give them the complete picture. Good luck.

Digital signal

Bad gas control valve
air in gas line
clogged manifold tube
clogged burner ports
inadequate venting
screens prevent flammable vapor ignition.
Otherwise no danger.

1) Copy following links to identify gas control valve and read ignition procedure, and access service manual for your product:

2) Honeywell gas control used on recent Bradford White gas water heaters has red knob that rotates to pilot. Press and hold red knob. Then push red igniter button until status light changes.

1) Just open the following link to identify gas control, and following instructions for lighting each gas control that appear under the gas control that looks like yours.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-troubleshoot-gas-water-heater.html#intellivent

2) Otherwise add a comment and carefully describe gas control valve, and then open link and compare your description to pictures of each gas control valve, and then look below each picture for link that says how to light water heater.

3) Call plumber.or local service technician, or local BW supplier who can recommend technician.

4) Call Bradford White to get recommendation of local technician.

The pilot light is out on the water heater. It will not re light using the posting directions. this happened a while ago and I called a tech. They were able to easily fix. There is some little thing...

Better description is needed. Add a comment.
Do you have tank or tankless water heater?
What brand heater and what model shows on label?
If tank water heater, what does gas control valve look like? Is it electronic?
Open following link to help identify tank-type gas valve.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-adjust-water-heater-temperature.html
Does pilot light start up and not stay lit, or is there no flame whatsoever?
What color is the flame?
Are you using piezo igniter or a match to light pilot?
Is there a power vent sitting on top of unit?
What happens when you get more fresh air to unit?

1) Maybe the thermocouple is bad. Or thermocouple is mis-aligned and not sitting in the flame.

2) Probably the technician should have cleaned the combustion parts.

3) Tank-type and tankless water heaters require cleaning on a yearly or semi-yearly basis. This action prevents lighting problems, and help prevent ECO events and that require replacing gas control valve.
Cleaning and general service including cleaning burner, cleaning air intake if that applies, checking for proper venting and vent obstructions, adequate air supply, backdraft, testing thermocouple etc.

4) IF you have tank-type water heater, and do not have electronic gas valve or power vented water heater, the following troubleshoot walk-thru is very good:

Example photo showing parts for gas control valve.

I HAVE PROBLEM WITH HEATER IS SWOING 1F IN THE SCREEN

YOur 1f code is actually a IF code which stands for "ignition failure".
This can be caused by many things, but the most likely is either the ignitor has failed, or the flame sensor has failed.

Make sure the gas manual gas valve is open. Remove from panel so that you can see the ignitor.
Turn off power, then turn back on. After 90 seconds, the ignitor should start to glow red hot. If this is not occuring, then it is likely the ignitor or ignitor wiring.

If the ignitor does glow, then the heater ignites, but still goes off showing the IF code, then it is the flame sensor.

If the ignitor glows, and the heater does not ignite, it is likely the gas valve or ignition control.

As stated above, the ignitor is most likely.

We believe we are to turn on the water electric button to start the heater. Directions say the light should go out when ignition occurs. It won't go out.

If your water heater has an electric element, as well as electronic ignition for gas operation, you may be getting them mixed up. One switch should show like a lightning bolt beside it,(that's for hydro use) the other will show a small gas flame beside it.(that's to turn on ignition for gas operation.)
If you only have one, my guess is it's for electronic ignition. When you turn that on, you should hear the water heater trying to ignite outside.("click, click, click) and then burner should ignite if you have your propane on. Get back to me with your model number of the heater, behind cover outside, and I can tell by that what you have as far as just gas, gas and electric, etc.

My heater will not light and electronic ignighter just continually sparks but burners do not light up? I've checked gas, etc but just won't light. Any suggestions? Do burners need replacing? Heater is 8yrs...

Do you physically see the spark or are you just hearing it. You can also take the igniter wire off of the control module and disconnect the pilot gas tubing from the gas valve. Turn the heater on and wait to see if you hear and smell gas coming out of the gas valve. If there is no gas check for 24v at the PV connection on the module. If there is voltage the problem is the gas valve. If no voltage the problem is the ignition module. If there is gas I would replace the pilot and gas tubing.
