Question about Dynex Stereo Headset with Noise-Canceling Microphone

1 Answer

Brand new mic Dynex DX28 and it will not record without horrible static. Checked volumes, did mic set up and wizard set up, and so forth without luck. Of course I had a presentation due for grad school last night and mic was terrible. When I first tried it earlier in the day, it had static, but through tril and error, it stopped somehow. However, I could not duplicate the intervention to make it work. Any feedback is helpful. Thanks

Static means a bad connection in the audio signal path - either a soldering on the mike itself, a cable interruption or a faulty jack. Without completely dismantling the unit all you can do is to move the mike arm and the cable around until the connection gets better - a temporary fix, the moment they will move again the connection will fail one more time.
But, since this is a manufacturing defect, you should return it and get another one.

Sounds like feedback from your monitors, the speakers can't be pointing in the direction of the mic.

I recorded videos at a concert with the new nikon coolpix L810 and the sound on the video is horrible. What is causing the noise in my video? sounds like wind is blowing or a crackling noise

The problem is the microphone on the camera. The mic on the camera is for recording sound in more normal environments. The sound level on a typical concert is much higher than normal, and the mic on the camera just doesn't have what it takes to record sound at those levels.

One possible solution is to record the sound with a dedicated audio recording device, and combine the video and audio in your video editing software.

Mic is recognized by the computer, but not registering sound. Help?

Hi,

Try this:

click on start, control panel, hardware and sound.

Click on manage sound devices and click the recording tab.

Make sure you have a tick on the mic you want to use and double click on it.

Make sure it says" Enabled" in the device usage box, then click on levels.

There should be 2 sliders, one is the volume of the mic and the other is microphone boost make sure the Microphone volume is near or at 100

It not too good using microphone boost but you may need to use it a little, if you set it too high you will get the horrible feedback screech.

I hope that helps..

Mike

Tried to use mic, only picking up computer sounds.

Ensure that you have selected the Microphone or the Line-in as your recording input. It sounds like you have set STEREO MIX as the recording input. Double click your speaker, select from the drop down "Properties" then Adjust volume for (RECORDING) select that and ensure that your appropriate recording device is selected. (XP)
