That depends on what brand and model your printer is. But i believe that you have an EPSON one. The first thing to do is open up the cover and turn on the printer the cartridge unit will start to move and if it goes at least near the middle simply unplug the printer's power plug. Now you can move the main cartridge the position where you can replace it's cartridges. Hope this helps.

Hello -- assuming your printer is connected into a PC via USB or some means - open up the software and find the Ink level supply option or replace cartridge option, this will move the printer head into the correct position.
If it's an Epson there is also a small lever that moves between sheets & envelopes , this also moves the printer head.
Last resort is to UN-PLUG while holding the top open , this moves the printer head -- hope that helps - Ray

plz check in the printing properties you are using the correct paper.
you can also try by printing in draft mode, if the problem is not solved then you can try by changing the paper.
If every thing fails then try by reloading the printer drivers and clean the cartridge contact point with the printer.
Still problem is not solved then try with another cartridge

Cyan toner missing message. on magicolor 330

Firstly - remove and reseat the cartridge. If problem remains: Replace the cartridge with a new one. It is possible the new cart is faulty. If problem remains: Cart Sensor unit should be replaced as follows (If you need a copy of the service manual, contact http://www.TheServiceManualShop.com) Removal 1. Remove the Fuser Assembly (RRP 9.80). 2. Reach inside the empty Fuser cavity and slide the Cartridge Sensor Holder forward to unlatch the Holder from the printer frame (Figure 1). 3. Move the Holder around until the side latches on the Holder line up with the cutouts in the frame and the Holder is free of the frame. 4. Disconnect P/J 87 from the Cartridge Sensor. 5. Remove the screw securing the Cartridge Sensor to the Cartridge Sensor Holder and remove the Sensor (Figure 2). Replacement 1. Position the Cartridge Sensor onto the Sensor Holder so the LEDs face out. 2. Line up the position tab and screw hole on the Sensor with the two holes in the Holder. 3. Use one screw to secure the Cartridge Sensor to the Sensor Holder. 4. Reconnect P/J 87 to the Cartridge Sensor. 5. Position the Holder against the Holder cutout in the printer frame. 6. Move the Sensor wire harness so it exit through the cutout at the rear of the Holder. 7. Move the Holder around until the side latches on the Holder line up with the cutouts in the frame. 8. Push the Holder forward until the front latch secures the Holder to the frame. 9. Reinstall the Fuser Assembly (RRP 9.80). If the problem remains, then the MCU PWB will need replacing. This could put the machine Beyond Economical Repair.

I have just installed a new BX3 Ink Cartridge in my CANON B640 FAXPHONE. I am getting an error message 'Put In Cartridge'. I am not able to receive faxes. I can however send them. Please help.

Remove the new cartridge and check that the holder has not broken. When the lever is moved it should squeeze the holder together. If this is all ok then clean the gold contacts in the holder with a damp cotton bud. If this all fails then its just possible the new cartridge is a bad one and needs exchanging for a good one.

How do I get the cartridge out to replace with new one???

The steps of replacing cartridge with a new one.

1) First You keep the printer power on. Open the printer cover - you will find the cartridges holder will come in proper place (the position varies printer to printer) so that you can easily remove the old cartridge.

2) Press gently the upper front portion of the cartridge you want to remove out of the printer holder - you will find it will be unlocked - just remove the cartridge carefully. (in some printer there is a cover on top of the cartridge holder which you can open to perform the step 2.

3) Unpack the new cartridge.

4) Don't forget to remove the plastic tape from the cartridge head (Ex.in HP, Lexmark cartridges etc).

5) Look the printer holder and look to the cartridge - you can easily decide the position of the cartridge in the holder.

6) Gently and carefully  put the cartridge in the holder - press the upper portion of the cartridge from front side - the cartridge will be locked autometically in the holder.

7) Put the printer cover in proper place.

8) Print Now - it will print test page first. Now print as usual.

I hope the solution is helpful to you. Thanks for using fixya.com.

Replacing the cartridge should resolve this problem: Follow these steps to replace the cartridge:

2. Open the document tray.
3. Lift the document guides to open the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).

Spilled ink can stain any surface; protect yourself and your work area. If removing a BJ cartridge to use one of the optional BJ cartridges, be sure to store the BJ cartridge in the container provided with your MultiPASS. Otherwise the ink will dry and affect print quality.

Caution: Discard the cap and tape. Never attempt to reattach them to the BJ cartridge print head. Install the BJ cartridge immediately after removing the cap and tape. Spilled ink can stain any surface; protect yourself and your work area.
7. With the label facing outward, insert the BJ cartridge into the cartridge holder. Lower the blue cartridge lock lever until it locks into position.

The cartridge holder moves to its home position on the right side of the unit and begins cleaning the BJ cartridge print head. This process takes about 55 seconds.

Caution: Do not try to manually move or stop the cartridge holder since this may damage the unit.
9. Close the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).
10. Close the document tray.
Note: If you need to unplug the MultiPASS, wait until the unit is in standby mode (date and receive mode displayed in the LCD). Otherwise the cartridge holder may not be in its home position causing the BJ cartridge to remain uncapped and dry out.

Ink cartrige placment

Make sure that the unit is powered on. Open the top and wait for the cartridge holder to move over to the left side. If it won't move, check to see if there is anything blocking it. Once the cartridge holder has moved over to the left, then put the cartridge in and lift up on the edge closest to you to lock it into place.
