Question about Canon BJ 330 InkJet Printer

Open Question

I have a Canon BJ-330 Bubble Jet Printer. When I turned on the printer the Ink/Paper light blinked and the buzzer sounded 3 times. I replaced the ink cartidge but the same error occurred. What should I do now? Thanks Nigel

When you replaced ink, did you reset ink settings. Do this if not. Also i recommend a thorough cleaning to make sure ink is running out well and heads are not blocked. cheers lilacgerry xxx

try also resetting the ink levels once ink is flowing out holes. If ink is not blotting from cartridge onto unscented wipe, you may need more ink to let ink get to bottom, to force air bubble out. Half filled ink will create bubbles. Try blowing into ink refil hole also. When ink is free flowing out printer end, you know it is ready to go, and reset cartridges on printer too (ink levels) cheers lilacgerry

At this stage we have found 2 ways that might work but not guaranteed to work with all machines.

Method #1

  1. POWER off printer
  2. Hold RESUME button then press and hold POWER, the beeper will sound once
  3. Hold POWER and release RESUME
  4. Press RESUME twice
  5. Release POWER button
  6. When the indicator light is steady press RESUME three (3) times. Indicator light should be orange
  7. Press POWER to set data

Replace and install the black ink cartridge with this Black Ink Tank BCI-3eBK Ifyou have done this and is still missing the black ink on print, clean the print heads. 1. Right-click the printer icon, and then select 'Properties'.
2. Click the 'Maintenance' tab, and then click 'Deep Cleaning'. 3. Read the message displayed, and then click 'OK'. The power lamp blinks and print head deep cleaning starts. (Do not perform any other operations until print head deep cleaning is complete. Print head deep cleaning takes about 1 minute.)

That should most likely work. If deep cleaning did not help, you may need to replace the print head.

Hi, According to my BJ-30 & BJC-70 user manual, if F12 is blinking, it is required for this Error code to get in touch with a Canon Service Centre. I had this in the past and being curious I removed the printer chassis from case the and found the problem to be a loose ribbon cable in the connector on the main board from the touch pad circut board . I also had the identical problem with my BJC-70. These printers are very reliable and compact, it seems to be a problem which I think comes about from these printers being so portable. It took me about 15 minutes to fix the problem for which I have made a small modification to hold the cable in place. Having said this, it may not necessarly be your problem but it is a starting point. Canon to my mind have not made another portable printer this good, so if you value it and can find a trustworthy technician get it fixed. If you want further info contact me here.

The printer is not printing receipts and the error indicator is blinking on and off, what is the solution to this?


Flashing (approx. once every second): Out of paper
Flashing (approx. twice every second): Mechanical error (Buzzer sounds once.)
Most likely your paper feed is giving you the error. Remove the current feed, ensure there are no paper jam & insert fresh paper.
If
Mechanical Error :: Quick blinking Buzzer Sounds continuously for a pprox. 1 second :: Reset the Power
switch

Paper End Blinks.:: Buzzer Repeats a short 3-time sound twice at intervals of 0.5 second.:: Set a new paper roll.
Paper Near End Blinks.(Once a second) :: buzzer Repeats a short 3-time sound twice at intervals of 0.5 second.:: Set a new paper roll.

Mechanical Error : If the printer mechanism has a greater load due to a paper jam, etc., the buzzer will sound and the SEL/ERROR lamp will blink to stop the printer mechanism.
Paper End : If the printer has run out of paper, the paper sensor in the paper path near the print head will detect the end of the paper roll, turn on the buzzer, and blink the SEL/ERROR lamp to stop the printer mechanism. If the paper is inserted into the paper path, the paper will be loaded.
Paper Near End : If the paper is running out, the paper near end sensor will be activated to turn on
the buzzer and make the SEL/ERROR lamp blink. Even after the paper near end is detected, a command can be used to print by the specified number of lines. (See a description on the command for setting the number of print lines after paper near end detection)
Finally
Backup Data Clear : When the power is turned on, depending on the SEL switch operation, the
backup data in the input buffer will be cleared according to the flowchart on the next page.
To clear the input buffer, turn on the power while pressing the SEL switch.
The following messages will be printed.
"Clear Data in Buffer"
"Cleared Data in Buffer"
To print the data in the input buffer, simply turn the power on.
The following message is printed and the data in the input buffer is printed.

My canon BJ 10 EX bubble jet printer wont recognise that a sheet of paper has been loaded, the out of paper light remains on. Does it have a mechanical or electronic sensor to detect paper insertion?


Yes you are right there is an electronic detection of the paper detection at the insert point. This is an optocoupler which can be checked for the failure of the detection. replace and proceed. Good day

try this. It is the reset for the waste ink error (8 flashes)

1) With the printer power OFF, while pressing the Resume button, press the Power button. (Do not release the
power button.)
2) While pressing the Power button, release the Resume button, press the Resume button again twice, and then
release the Resume button and Power button.
3) The green indicator flashes during initialization.
When the indicator stops flashing and remains on, press the Resume button 4 times to clear waste ink message.
(The indicator toggles between orange and green each time the Resume button is pressed.)
4) Next, press the Power button, and the green indicator will light, and the function will be executed.
5) Turn off the printer then back on and error should clear.

Reset Procedures for Canon i560 Printers
  1. Turn off i560 Printers
  2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
  3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
  4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
  5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
  6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
  7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not, press the Power button once more.
  8. Your Canon i550, i560, i850, i860, i865, i9100, i9950 Printers should respond as normal.
  9. Please remember at some time of other you will need to clean out the ink pads that are inside the printer.

Printer is not responding


This is the error light page from the S520. Not sure about this, but probably the same on the S530. 8 Blinks means replace the ink absorber and reset the counter. I think the ink absorber can be gotten at from the bottom, BUT NOT SURE. Try this at your own risk!

7.1 Service Mode Operation
1) With the printer turned off, hold down the RESUME button and press the POWER
button (the green indicator lights and the desired service function can be selected).
2) While holding down the POWER button, let go of the RESUME button before pressing
the RESUME button again twice in succession. Then let go of both RESUME and
POWER buttons.
(At each press of the RESUME button, the indicator toggles between orange and
green.)
3) During printer initialization, the green indicator blinks. When the green indicator
stops blinking and remains on, press the RESUME button the specified number of
times to execute the desired service function, as listed below.
(At each press of the RESUME button, the indicator toggles between orange and
green.)

0 times Green Power off (Even if there is no print head mounted, the
carriage will return to the home position and lock.)
1 time Orange Service/factory test printout (Including ink sensor check)

Close the front cover, and check the power lamp indication status (blinking or lighting). List of power lamp indications Blinks in green After lighting in green, blinks in orange 2 or more times Lights in orange Blinks alternately in green and orange, 1 time each this is the option i got on the canon website for printer head not moving to the center. but the light indication given does not match with these options.
It is better for you to go to the above link and see what options suite your problem and follow the instruction given by the manufacturer.

Does the machine beep 5 times and flash both the power and error lamps? If so then the Waste Ink tank/pad is full and needs to be cleaned and the printer counter reset.
