Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive boot up

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty ?
one bad lead will end with a computer error a computer needs its connections continue its cycle and have an end to function properly

even something as small as an electrical extension or a faulty fan lead can cause this problem follow the troubleshooting procedure a computer needs all of the data and electrical current to travel through every device and to have an end to be able work properly

a motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail check all electrical extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working also it could be a dirty graphics card clean all of the dust from your computer you could use a vacuum cleaner but whatever you use make absolutely sure there is no moisture gets to anything in your computer and before you touch anything be sure to wear an earth strap hope this helps

Windows will not format itself if your hard drive has an operating system on it.
Click start click on computer to open right click on your drive C: select properties you will see all used and free space on your drive.
You have to be the computers administrator to change any values on any hard drive on your computer.
Click start control panel user accounts on the users tab click the name of the computer administrator you must have full control
Click start click to open on my computer you should see your usb drive could be E: or something right click select properties there will be an array of options
select the sharing tab option then advanced sharing make sure you have a tick in the share this folder box
then click permissions make sure you have all 3 boxes ticked full control changes and read in windows 7
Click start control panel user accounts click on the administrators account if you have made one or you will have to create one in windows XP
Click start right click on my computer select open
Right click the icon of your usb drive (It should be E:/ or something)
Click Properties in the menu that comes up
Click the Sharing tab
Click permissions
And finally, click Allow next to Full Control.

If its your primary hard drive with an operating system
you have to format a hard drive with a third party disk
Restart your computer During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS then using the arrow keys
navigate to advanced bios features press enter change your first boot device to cd press escape then press f10 to save to cmos restart
If its an external hard or a data drive or a usb data drive
click start right click on my computer select open you should see your usb drive
right click then select format
another way is to click start control panel administrative tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select format.

Hard disk is not running frm last boot

hi,
- This means that your operating system may have collapsed and needs repair.
- To repair, enslave your hard drive to another machine by:
- Make sure the second computer has a good operating system.
- Remove the hard disk from your computer.
- Remove CD/DVD Rom from the second computer and fix your hard disk on
that drive.
- Start the computer. It will display that you're running on two drives.[Unix]
- Press F1 to save changes and continue.
- The machine notes one drive needs repair and starts the repair process.
- After it has completed and opened your system, turn it off and remove the
hard disk.
- Fix it on the first machine and start it.
- If this fails, you may need to format the hard disk.

Hard Drive Read Failure

No--I would say that the hard drive has gone bad on you.
The BIOS can see a hard drive, but it can't tell if it's any good.
If it's defective, well--you see what happens!

There is a possibility your hard drive is failing.Go to the website of your hard drive manufacturer and download a diagnostic utility. Run the diagnostic utility to determine whether the hard drive is in good condition.
