Possible your outlet filter is blocked, it need periodic cleaning, which the user can do himself. Locate where this is from your user's manual. Clean out, re-fix. Next it could be the hose that goes from the bottom of the tub to the filter pump; check the former first. Well, you have a record of sorts, 30 years!!

SOURCE: how do I replace the water level switch in my washing machine

You either need a new pressure switch or the pipe leading up to it via the air bell is blocked with a soapy jelly.

You can remove the back and then take off the plastic or rubber pipe leading down from pressure switch (It looks like a small flying saucer with several leads onto its plastic side and a small inlet pipe where the plastic pipe fits onto.

The other end will fit on top of a small chamber attached to the near the bottom of the main drum , this may be made of a translucent plastic which should allow you to see if there is any blockages.

If not it is a case of removing it making sure it is clean and if need be glueing it back into place with a good silicone sealer or instant gasket.

If that is clean and the machine still gets the levels wrong you need a new part

    Good Day,
Your washing machine is fully automatic?
    the washing cycle is normal?
if yes do the same maybe it will help you.
for the fully automatic washing machine mostly have drain pump, please check the filter of your drain pump, how? remove the cup of your drain pump like a ordinary cup, screw it clock wise or counter clock wise.
Remove drain pump filter and clean it, some hair pins, cotton buds or coins or any small item that coz of clog up.
if your washing machine dont have drain pump ,but fully automatic check the drain motor if running or not? how? open the back cover for top loader washing machine only, select spin cycle and press start to see the drain motor running? the drain motor is like a small box with small wire to pull the lever of the drain to remove water inside, if the motor running or pull the lever of the water pipe but water still inside the washing machine, remove the drain cup or cover and clean it or check if have coin or cloth inside that coz of clog or water stuck,
if the drain pump or drain motor is weak this is will cause and long time draining or totally not running the drain pump or drain motor and its cause of totally stop the cycle of washing machine in rinse time or spin time, because all fully automatic washing machine, after washing cycle the drain pump or drain motor must be on, to remove water before start the next cycle. rinse or spin cycle.

My White Westinghouse 833ES never stops filling, it seems like as water goes in, it is draining right out. Any ideas of what to check would be appreciated. Thank you.

you have to have the drain higher than the water level of the wahing machine, plus ther is no stopper for the water so if you have the drain hose connected directly to another hose and there is no air gap at the top it will just siphon out
