Question about Garden

I Have a push mower and hit a rock and finished the lawn hearing the lawnmower blade hit underneath a couple of times. When the mower went down slope the blade started really hitting the side. The next day I put the lawnmower on its side and looked under and could see where the blade was hitting the side. I turned the blade around and around and it was not hitting the side.So I started the lawnmower and the blade was not hitting the side. The lawnmower starts easily and runs fine. Then when I moved the lawnmower the blade started to hit the side again. What is wrong and how do Ifix it.

Sounds like the blade maybe bent, you should either try to straighten it out or replace

Hi there nchernuka

have you checked that the engine to chassis bolts are still tight and the mounts are ok,

have you checked that you havn't bent the pto shaft ( this will be evident if you remove the blade carrier and blades, then the plug and pull the gine over - check wobble ), check that blade carrier is in good condition and the pto woodruff key is ok and the carrier centre pto bolt is tight

check that anything that is under the mower body is still tightly attached and is not getting swung into the path off the blades - ie catcher tounge - metal body brackets etc

i would also suggest you check the feather timming key in the flywheel too especially if it kicks back when you try to start it

cheers have a look

hope it helps pauly46

Make sure the bolt holding the mower blade hasn't loosened and check to be sure the blade is properly centered on the crankshaft end plate.

I hit a rock with with my 7.0 horse lawnmower it now vibrates when idling. I replace the blade and it's still viberating can i still run it?

You should not. You have probably sheared or partially sheared the flywheel key. The timing is probably impaired now. The vibrations could be from a loose blade adapter or the mistiming of the engine. I recommend pulling the engine cover (starter shroud) and the starter/recoil and the starter cup and doing a visual inspection of the end of the crankshaft. Look in the area where the shaft goes through the center of the flywheel. If the slot in the flywheel is NOT lined up and joined by a small metal piece with the slotted groove on the crankshaft, the key is sheared and timing needs to be restored and the key replaced.

I hit a rock with my push lawnmower. The

Oooh boy, I know you bent the shaft, but why it is blowing oil out the carb, I don't know if I would even bother with the blade, you could go buy the same mower, then you would have some parts. Unless you just bumped it hard enough to throw oil around in there, it might settle down, but it is a long shot. I hit a stump once and bent the crank, it was lights out for that mower. Hope this helps.

42 deck craftsman riding mower. how do you get blades off? md 91721880.

On most riding lawnmowers, you can remove the blades reaching underneath the deck while the deck is set to its highest position. This may not be possible on lawnmowers with three blades; however, most 42 inch mowers have two blades.

The blades are usually held on with either one or two bolts (on each blade). Oftentimes, too, there is a lock washer underneath the bolt.

If you have auto ramps, it might help to push the front end of the mower up on the ramps. This can give you more room to access the blade bolts.

If the blades have not been removed before, those bolts can be on really tight. You might need to use some kind of breaker bar on your wrench to give you more leverage.

Have wheel horse riding lawnmower that will not engage the blades

Take a look underneath, either the belt has stretched too much and its too long now or it has broke or fallen off. It could be that one of the pulleys have become frozen but you should hear squealing or the engine might stall. Good luck.

Mower hit a big rock and stoped running

If you hit something hard enough to partially shear the key on the blade adapter, you did shear the key on the flywheel, and it will need to be replaced for the engine to run properly.
