It is not related to your anti-virus. Skype is experiencing technical problems since yesterday.

The solution:

Get the latest updated version of skype (released today) to get rid of the problems. Here is the link for wondows user:

Mac users need to wait until tomorrow.

I have a Logitech webcam and can't unmute the mic in my Skype to Skype video call window. It is the latest version 5.1.112 My webcam mic worked fine with the previous version. I have run all the tests...

are you sure that you haven't downloaded a software which is not appropriate for your operating system? how about the wire connection to the web cam itself - is it properly secured?

Skype comes up and says my camera is not supported.

  • Extract from Skype Help
  • "Most PC-compatible webcams should work with Skype, although some older models may not. Make sure you download and install the most recent drivers for your webcam (you can get these from the webcam manufacturer’s site). Or, you can buy a webcam that’s guaranteed to work seamlessly with Skype from the Skype Shop.
  • Make sure both you and the person you are video calling are using the latest version of Skype. To check what version you have, click Help > About Skype.
  • Please check that your computer hardware configuration supports video calls – the recommended system requirements are a 1 GHz CPU, 512MB RAM, a video card with at least 16MB of memory and a 512/256kbit (down/up) broadband internet connection.
  • Check that your video device supports DirectShow 9.1 standard (WDM is currently not supported).
  • Make sure that you have the latest version of DirectX. You can download DirectX if you need it. After installing it, please go to Start > Run and type dxdiag. In the window ensure you have DirectX9.0c or higher. Sometimes the installation fails to update the version and in these cases please contact Microsoft for support."

The obvious thing is to upgrade the driver.. Have you tried that? Also when you say windows are searching..? I assume you mean you have reported the problem to Microsoft? If you have installed some new software, it may be caused by that.. Also you might try to fall back to an earlier restore point. That is always an option. It does seem as if the driver is fine, otherwise you would not be able to use it on Skype, which means it's probably related to Windows. I'd upgrade the driver or fallback to a previous restore point via Windows.. Let me know if you need further explanation..
