Hello, welcome to FixYa. The GE frontloads of several years ago where indeed made by Figidaire ( not the other way around) though GE now make their own as do Frigidaire/Electrolux and no longer have anything in common. The GE that had been built by Frigidaire used identical pumps, you'll just need to provide a model number of the unit in question and I can tell what pump it uses...and what washers it will work in. GE washers are a decent machine. These days I don't think there is one brand better than another. All are mass produced and even the higher priced ones are no better than a cheaper one, the higher price is just for options. Stay with one of the major brands that have been around a long time and stay away from ones you never heard of. With names like GE, Whirlpool, or Frigidaire you will at least be able to get parts and service if needed.
Frigidaire front-loading washing machines have an electronic control panel where the wash cycle and any other wash options are selected, and the wash cycle is initiated and stopped, if necessary. The control panel also has indicator lights that show the washer status and will display an error code if there are issues with the washer. The "E20" error code indicates a possible pump problem.
Blocked Pump
One of the primary reasons why there may be an "E20" error code on a Frigidaire front-loading washing machine is if there is something blocking the pump. Disconnect the washing machine from the power and release the clips on each side to remove the front access panel. Set a container under the pump drain, which is located on the lower right side of the washing machine. Open the pump drain plug and allow it to drain. Clean out any debris that might be causing the obstruction, then close the drain plug. Close the access panel and restore power to the washer.
Drain Hose
If the drain hose is blocked or crimped, the water may not pump out fast enough, causing the pump error to appear on the display. Straighten out the drain hose in the rear of the washing machine and move it away from the washer if it's trapped between the wall and the washing machine.
Oversudsing
If too much detergent--or the wrong kind of detergent--is used in the washing machine, too many suds may result. This can overwhelm the drain and pump system, resulting in the error. Use only high efficiency (HE) laundry detergent with Frigidaire washing machines and follow specific instructions on the laundry container for the recommended amount of detergent. Run a drain cycle if there are excess suds in the washer to clear out the system.
Pressure Switch or Control Boar
The pressure switch may not be communicating properly with the control board, which can cause the E20 error to occur. The other possibility for the E20 error code is if the control board has failed entirely. Try to reset the washing machine by pressing "Stop/Cancel" and disconnecting the washing machine power cord. Wait 30 seconds, then restore power. Make a new cycle selection and press "Start" to see if the error code returns. If it does, turn off the washing machine and contact Frigidaire for repair.

based on info provided your ge would be a frigidaire made machine, only filter is at drain pump. to access remove lower front access panel (screws on bottom) pump sits in middle of machine, locate large rubber hose connecting to tub, loosen clamp and pull off. inside is plastic strainer cup, empty and replace. make sure nothing went past to pump, reassemble.
My GE washer instructions said to leave the door open or mold could form inside. IMO (and many sales reps I spoke with) Frigidaire is not a good brand. And being one of the cheaper brands, you get what you pay for. Good luck with your law suit.
