Question about Garden

My DeWALT DW936 Type 2 Trim Saw is coming on and turning off and I have to push the trigger several times for it to come on, I'm not sure if it would be the brushes or the trigger.

Sounds like the trigger, you would see sparks if the bushes were going out and a loss of power would be present as well.I use cardboard or Styrofoam(push them in) to keep track of bolts and a magnet for the small stuff.
There are two types of brushes, the ones that come out of the saw and and the ones that are held back with a piece of wire in holes in the front of the brush holders. After assembly the wire is pulled through the vents.Thank you for choosing FixYa.com.

I always add this for your information. If this is not the solution that you are looking for please re post because when we pick a question to answer FixYa takes it out of the question queue.

Have you checked the manual. My Dewalt Dws780 was not turning on, then I checked the manual and able to start it. There was some sort of plug issue with my saw but thankfully it sorted out quickly. I got this saw from this video recommendation.

I have 2 dewalt 18 volt hammer drills. The first one died about 2 years ago. The trigger seemed to mess up. I took it apart several times thinking I could fix it. I finally gave up on it. It's laid...

Hi, Take the drill apart using a star driver. When taking the chuck assembly from the yellow section have the drill chuch down to stop bits falling out. Once handle is apart popout the triggger assembly. Remove the two power leads from the assembly. Try a direct connection to the battery (polarity doesn't matter. If the motor goes it means that the trigger is U/S. Put a tester across the terminals (either set). You may have a short (as I had). It appears to me that the trigger is not user servicable. I used one from a DeWalt recip saw with a mod on the reverse lever. Works well.

Good luck.

Saw seems dead, after 8 - 12 trigger pulls the saws turns on (sometimes) but after you release trigger its dead again???

You should check the brushes and cord first but it sounds like your trigger is shot, not an uncommon failure for this tool. With the cord plugged in, hold the trigger on in one hand and bend the cord around in several placed, especially near the boot and push and pull it in the tool. If it comes on, replace the cord. If the it doesn't react to this, check the brushes. Without knowing which model you have, they should be at least 1/4" long, evenly worn and shiney, not burnt, where they touch the armature. If these check out you need a new switch.

The saw do not stop when i off the trigger

the commutator might be dirty, try and turning the brushes 180 degrees and you might have to clean the commutator with a stone for that purpose to seat the brushes.

I Have a Dewalt DC385 type 2 Reciprocating saw. I push the trigger and it does not work all of a sudden. Could the trigger unit be bad. How can I tell if it is bad, I just dont want to keep replacing...

REMOVE THE BLADE !!!! take the handle apart and lift out the switch. keep track of the lock slide button and how it is installed. unplug the switch wires. carefully touch the wires you just unplugged onto the battery terminals. these wires lead directly to the motor. BEWARE.. if the motor components are good , the saw will run at FULL SPEED. you only need to tap the wires, DO NOT jamb them onto the battery. If the motor runs then most likely the switch is bad. If you know how to use a continuity tester then you can also check the switch. Bad moter likely culprtet is the brushes are crapped out.

Cannot rotate the Dewalt 708 mod 3 saw horizontally

If you have loosened the handle a little and pulling the adjustment trigger didn't allow for movement, you may need to remove and clean the turn table.(don't forget, the handle must be loosened for the turn table to rotate)

Please rate this a fixya
