Question about Fisher and Paykel 23 in. DD603H SS Free-standing Dishwasher

2 Answers

Hi, I emailed sometime ago about my fisher @ paykel dishwasher not working. This will be the first time I've used your service and I'm just a little unsure how effective it will be. I guess I'm a just being sceptical but i really want it fixed without paying call out fees and the like. So how much do i have to pay. The top draw will not turn on. At the time the draw was hard to open so i went through the procedure to recalibrate the draw when i was holding down the buttons to get it into self test mode that's when they stopped working and it hasn't turned on since. Thank you

    HI Kevin,

    Thanks for your solution.

The draw was hard to open as was the bottom one i had success in the recalibration of the bottom draw and as i said when i was trying to get the top one into self test mode the buttons stopped working and i can not turn on the top draw now.

When you say remove the control panel does that mean remove the display area around the buttons or is it to do with control assembly on the bottom underneath and up the back of the bottom draw? Thank you

    Hi Kevin,

I should add the draw does open up. Thank you

    Hi,

I still have the problem as i am unsure of the solution please bare with me. The original problem with the top draw was it was hard to open so i read on this site that you can re-calibrate the draws by going into the self test mode and following the procedure. The issue i had was that i did not know you had to turn off the the draw and then hold down the buttons to go into self test mode so i tried several times attempting to access self test mode with the power on the top draw. It was at this time that the power bottom or on button became intermittently faulty so it worked then did not work a few times then it stopped working altogether. The bottom draw is fine and yes we lost power to the top draw after trying to access the self test mode. So if you could help that would be great. I am a mechanic by trade so i can pull thing apart and put back together with reasonable success. Thank you for your help.

    Hi,

I should get the part today so fingers crossed it will work and thanks for all your help so far you've been great. I still have the original problem of the draw being hard to open and close. Should i repeat the procedure of re calibrating the lid actuators if so could you send through the procedure. Thank you.

Hi, The LCD is completely blank. If the controller was gone would that effect only the top the dishwasher or both?

There is an item 15 on page 12 and discription on page 13: MAINS FILTER BOARD PH3
MAINS FILTER BOARD PH3 US is that it. If so is that underneath the bottom draw on the base. My unit has G.P.O. and is not hard wired will i still need to turn off the mains?

  • chrisquinane Jun 14, 2011

Please confirm if you still have a problem with the dishwasher. It is unclear from the thread of your responses as the statements of the other expert will be visible only to the client.
Also please confirm what you mean by "buttons stopped working". Did you loose power to the top drawer after you tried the self test mode? How is the bottom drawer?

The drawer not opening would have been mainly because the lid seal could be out of place or the seal actuator motors are faulty.

The first thing to do now is to fix the power button on the top drawer. You will have to replace the whole panel.

You will have to remove the front cover to get there. See these instructions.

Then you need to find the part locations and numbers for the panel, lid seal and the actuator motor.

These can be found at this location.

One advice - don't touch the bottom drawer if it is working.

refer item 6 on page 6 of this document. The power on switch is part of this LCD panel.

sorry did not see your response. normally I get a trigger from fixya system but it did not show up this time.

I am unclear if you get anything on the display at all. If the display is totally blank and you get no beeps or lights then either the power to the controller is gone or the controller itself is gone. This could be the one that is also causing problem with the sticky lid seal motors. Item 15 on page 11 of the parts manual is the power supply unit. It sits on the base of the outer housing. I would be careful to turn off the mains power when working on the dishwasher. I would suggest you swap the connections on this board as this provides power to both drawers. Check if you notice any change in the top drawer. If no change, then replace the connectors and start looking at the controller itself.

each drawer has its own controller. Only the inlet valve and power filter are shared.

If you are in the US then you have the correct part number for the power filter.

sorry missed the last part of your questions. Not sure what GPO is - but what I meant was to disconnect the dishwasher from the power supply when you are working on it as the mains voltage comes up right up to the connector and it is always live.

If you are in the US then you need the second part (which is meant for 110V) otherwise the first one.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

The problem is either with the door lock assembly or the control board that is bad and needs replacement. You can take the control apart and then remove the ribbon cable and blow air with hair dryer before replacing the control board. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Flood switch will not reset

The lid seal is damaged and it lets water go through and collect on the flood switch which may be triggering F1.

You will have to replace the lid seal. It is item 8 on page 14 of this diagram.

Hi,
Below is the service manual link and a web site that I found. refer to the lower section where a person writes in that the fixed the flooding with a hairdryer. I hope this helps, they seem like fantastic dishwashers.
