Hi I have a compaq presario c500. I tried to switch it on and it froze on the 'resuming windows' screen. now when i press the power button the light comes on and I can hear the hardware working but nothing happens on screen at all - it's completely blank. is there anything i can do to fix it?

Does the computer make running sounds? If so it could be there is an issue with the LCD screen. If not it could be bad RAM or the Motherboard is having issues.

It's possible that the smack damaged a cable running from the screen to the computer. Unless you are tech savvy, I suggest taking it in to a certified repair store, where the repairs should be relatively inexpensive.

Hi,

1. Turn off computer and unplug power cord.
2. Disconnect all external devices(open up the computer tower and then )
3. remove battery
4. press power button and hold for 10-15 seconds
5. plug power cord back into computer and press power button.
6. Check LED’s and listen for power supply fan.
7. If LED’s are on or power supply fan starts spinning, watch for boot screen
8. If coputer begins to turn on, turn it off.
9. Reconnect battery and external devices.
10. Press power button and make sure computer starts.

This should work....all the best

when upower up press F8 key then enter in enable vga mode.
then set screeen resolution to 1024*768
and if u r not abled to login enable vga then enter in safe mode.
then go to start menu run then type in run "chkdsk /r"
thats it
then restart it then it fix error on hardddisk.

Check your RAM. I had the same problem with my C500. I ended up having a bad stick of RAM. The only other cause I know of is the hard drive. Although this is rare if you had no problems with your operating system before.

You should replace the power supply, and clan out dust, and tighten connectors

Just repaired one with the same problem. I finally installed new power button board, and motherboard. good luck and hope this will solve ur problem. By the way try the new power button board first it may save ya the cost of a new motherboard. Joe

try,,holding the delete key down as it is starting up,,,will the computer boot into Bios?
do you see any information on the screen when you start the computer at all?

This happens because of static energy storing in the motherboard components.

We can try power drain to resolve this issue.


Try doing power drain by taking out the battery & keep holding down the power button for complete one minute to drain out the power from the computer components. Restart the computer after putting the battery in.
Try restarting the computer only with the AC power, without the battery & vice-versa.

That should resolve the issue, if the issue persists, then you have to contact service center.
