Even if it was dropped in fresh water, there are chemicals in the water that will cause electrical shorts inside the camera and cause the circuitry not to function. At this point it may not be economical to repair.

Tip

Dropped the cell phone or mobile in water

Dropped the cell phone in water
If you would have accidently dropped your cell phone in water or it fell in water you can try fixing it be these below tips
1. Remove the battery of the mobile and try drying it with a hair dryer
2. Put the cell phone in a raw rice container for a day, the rice will soak the moisture and the mobile will become dry from inside
3. After that put the battery back on and try switching, there are more chances now that it will work
4. Never try to instantly switch on the cell phone after taking it out from water you should follow the above steps, switching it on instantly can lead to short circuit in mobile and the cell software can get damaged
5. You can also put the phone in light sunlight (not in very hot direct sunlight) after removing the battery do not put the battery in sunlight though
6. Also make sure you keep the SIM card out of the mobile

By taking these steps you can make a fair attempt to save your mobile from dying.

Vikram

Water damage phone

It is more than likely that your cell phone battery was ruined. I know it's hard to not have a phone but I suggest putting your phone with the back off in a baggie of dry rice for 24-48 hours. You will need to get a new battery. I get mine online at http://www.batteries4less.com. They have a warranty and free shipping. Also a return policy in case you fried your phone trying to turn it in when it was still wet. Honestly probably just the battery though. Good luck!

Water damage

Glad to see I'm not the only person to drop a digital camera in the water. LOL. Here is what I did to save my camera.
First remove it from the water. Take the batteries and SD Memory card out. Toss the batteries out. Dry the memory card with a soft terry cloth hand towel and set aside. Do your best to drain the water from the camera. There is still water in the camera. Give it about 3 or 4 days to let it dry out. Leave the battery lids off and prop the camera up onto it's side so any excess water can drain or evaporate freely.
Once the camera is dry, put a set of fresh batteries in (not rechargeables) but not the memory card. Power the camera on and see if LCD comes to life.

I dropped the phone in water and it works but some of the keys stick for one thing, and the indicator light is yellow...

The water is not yet very dry from the phone and part of the phone panel might have been rust as a result of the water.

Remove the battery, loose the phone and heat the phone panel with bulb to allow the water dry very well.

But do not allow it over heat.

Take care.

DROPPED CANON POWERSHOT SX10 IS IN SALT WATER (NOT SUBMERGED). WILL NOT WORK. ALLOWED TO DRY OUT SEVERAL HOURS, INSERTED SD CARD AND BATTERIES. DOES NOT TURN ON.

First of all, it would take days, not hours to dry out. Turning it on too soon can fry the circuits. But worse than that, salt water is extremely bad for a camera. Most places won't even repair it.

Drop my phone in water

Take the battery out immediately, dry everything that you can with a towel. Let it stand for a few days to dry out inside before trying to turn it back on or you will fry it out. T mobile will not do anything to help you...

Water damage

1) Take the battery, sim card (SD card if there is one) out and dry
2)Dry the battery compartmant
3)For about 24 hours turn the phone upside down, or so the water will drip OUT
4) Then for about 2-3 minuets dry with a blow dryer, on low
5) YAY your cell phone SHOULD work, if not then the damage is serious
