Question about Hayward 2HP Pool Pump Motor A O Smith Electric Pool Motor for 56J Frame

1 Answer

My pool pipe broke open and the water pumped out - about 2 feets worth and the entire hot tub before we shut the system down. I just had the pipes fixed, turned it back on and now the motor is whining. Is there anything i can do to stop the noise or at least tone it down? WD-40?? Something??

How to install new pool heater

Shut the pump down. Open the lid on the pump to allow into the system. This will drain the plumbing lines at the equipment. Drain water from heater by removing drain plugs(usually 3) Shut the gas valve off to the heater and undo the union that is usually after the valve(recommend gas fitter doing this and he should reattach any piping or rethread new cut pipe. Cut or disconnect water lines from and to the heater. Remove old heater Install new heater in location and reconnect water lines to appropriate side of the headers(water inlet and outlets for heater). Gasline reconnect via gas fitter. Light pilotand restart pump after filling with water and repriming

How do I install a dry well in my in ground pool

To install a drywell(or sump pit) you will need to dig a hole beside the pool(usually les than 3' from the pool wall or in the same backfill material as close to the the overdig for the pool as possible. The goal here is to get down the the bottom of the pool wall in the backfill material so you can access the ground water that is accumulating around the pool to pump it out. Dig a large enough hole that you can install either clay tile, "Big O", 8" plastic pipe or something that will allow you to lower a submersible pump down and pump the ground water out. Keep in mind that it will be perminently in the ground and needs to hold back the surrounding soil or backfill. It's a good idea to drill several holes around the pipe as well as up a few feet from the bottom to allow for the water to pass into the pipe. Lower the pipe into the hole you've dug, fill the outside with clear gravel to the just below the top of the pipe then lay some filter cloth on this stone. Top it off sixth some soil and cover the pipe opening with your choice of either a decorative patio stone or flagstone. It's a good idea to peek inside the pit weekly to pump out any water. Especially in the spring and fall when the pool has been shut down for the year if your in a climate that this is necessary

I have a Hayward Power-Flo LX SP1515-Z2-EBK3 that is being used to pump water through 2-4x8 solar water heater panels. The pump intake is 1 1/2 inch, discharge out is also 1 1/2 inch. The pump is located...

I have a 3/4 hp hayward pumping thru solar panels, too. 1-1/2 discharge thru 50 ft of 2inch pipe, up 12 ft then thru (4) 4x12 panels. Mine is on 115 volts ac.
You have plenty of pump and when you run a pump with low flow, amperage is low. You are not tripping your breakers, it sounds like the pump is overheating. Is it hot to the touch when it shuts down?
Do you have an ammeter so you could check your amps?
What size wire is running the 60 ft to the pump?

I don't have any other ideas to share.

Pool pump wont prime when in pool mode, but will run in hot tub mode. Hot tub is 3 ft higher than the pool... is this a bad impeller? I think it may have run for a few hours without a prime , as I...

I assume that it pumps from/to the hot tub. If so, the pump is fine. Look for any air leaks in the piping/hoses from the connection in the pool to the inlet of the pump.

I don't know the answer to this ... your pool service company can advise you. To my way of thinking, you are asking a lot of a 3/4 horse. I have a 1 1/2 horse lifting water in a two inch pipe about 4 feet to my water feature with no reservoir.

Since you have a two inch pipe, why not run a bigger motor? I have two HP on all my filtered lines which are 2" suction and 2" discharge.

Are you absolutely sure you have suction? ... and no air leaks on the suction side?

I have 2 inch PVC system for my pump and filter. Fafco inground system has 1.5 inch piping. Where is the best way to reduce 2 inch pipe to 1.5 inch (at the diverting valve or at the panel)? Another...

Honestly, I think you are over thinking both your problems. Reduce to 1.5 inch pipe as close to the ground as possible. It is more work for your pump to push water up a 2" pipe then a 1.5" pipe, but it will do either without any real problem.

As far as mounting your panels, as long as they are above the water level of the pool the water is going to drain out of them just fine. You can slope them slightly, but you don't need to.

I have a Dream Maker Eclipse spa. We just had the pump replaced, but the tub is getting TOO hot that we cannot even get in it. We opened the housing and see 2 metal heat sensors but they are not attached...

The readout may be getting it's temperature from one of those sensors that are hanging in mid-air, not surprisingly low. Both sensors have to be somewhere that they can read some water temp. One of them probably goes into the piping before the heater so it can tell actual water temperature. The other MAY go in piping after the heater in the event of high water temp, it will shut the heater off. Look for a schematic in and around the spa.

Jacuzzi hot tub pump. Put new pump and motor in water wont circulate but can here pump running.

Check your suction plumbing to be sure it is sealed and tight. Then force some water through the pipe to see if anything is blocking it.

Water temp. reading isn't the the same as the actual water temp. hot tub says heater dry

If you have drained the spa latly and refilled you could have an air lock keeping the heater dry. Simpley find the drain valve under the spa and open it till it run's water. This should help the problem by letting the pressure even in the pipeing and flooding. Good luck.
