Either the connections, wires or needle are not doing their job, the only other thing it could be is the cartridge itself, check the first 3 things, if this is a turntable that plugs into a receiver,, try hooking it up( the RCA cables) into the tape player In section, set the receiver for Tape player, and see if it works, if not,, Its the cartridge,, you can get another one and the needle here http://www.turntableneedles.com/find10.asp

How to connect speakers to RCA model #RP-8070D

This unit is just a 5 disc CD player and cannot drive large speakers all by itself. Normally it is hooked up to a stereo receiver / amplifier which is what provides the power to drive the speakers which are wired to the back of the stereo amplifier.

If you have a home stereo, then just run the cables from the 2 AUDIO OUT connectors on the back of your CD player to the CD IN connectors on the back of your stereo.

Then turn your stereo on and select CD on your stereo input mode selector and you should be able to play the cds on your RCA and hear them through the stereo speakers.

If you do not have a stereo amplifier with speakers to connect it to, then you can always listen to it through headphones connected to the headphone jack.

Or if you have a set of self powered amplified speakers, like the kind you hook up to a computer, then you can run the AUDIO OUT cable from your cd player into those as well.

Good luck.

I have a stock stereo and two subs with an amp in the trunk. Also two alpine speakers in the rear. Whenever I turn my balance to the left my subs don't play. What's wrong?

Hello.... I am sorry to hear you are having problems. The reason for this is that since you have a stock stereo, the shop (or person) whom installed the amp and subs used a line out converter. What this part does is allows the connection of RCA cables to the factory head unit. Almost all bass signals are always in stereo, so since you were only hooking an amplifier for just subs, you can actually just connect to just one of the rear speakers instead of connecting to the right and left. Just makes the install a little quicker. There is nothing wrong with this as I usually do the same thing in our shop. However, if you are going to be using the balance control, then you will need to go back to the shop and have them hook the converter up in stereo (to both rear speakers). Hope this helps!

" Some DVD\'s sound fine whilst others have background sounds but no voices. I do have an old model TV that has mono sound.Would that cause it? "
Hi,
I wrote a short article for someone who had a similar problem a few days ago.
I will edit it for you so that it fits. Here it is.
Your DVD player should have output connectors in the back of it to plug your amplifier or receiver into. If you have a Stereo system (no surround sound speakers, or front center speaker) connect the DVD Audio Cables on the back of the DVD player to the STEREO (or MIXED ) Output Jacks. If it is connected to the Left Front and Right Front jacks of the "Surround Sound" output jacks instead of Stereo(or MIXED) then the dialog will be sent to the CENTER channel output. If you have no center channel speaker you will not hear it. Thus no dialog.
NOTE: In your case for the TV that is mono, here is the solution.
1 Connect a stereo pair of RCA cables (red and white "male" connectors at each end) to the Mixed or Stereo Output of the DVD player (NOT ANY SURROUND OUTPUTS).
2 Purchase an RCA type "Y" connector that has 2 female to a single male connectors on it. Walmart about 3 dollars.
3 Plug the single male plug of the Y connector into the back of the TV set's single mono audio input.
4 Connect the stereo RCA pair from the MIXED output of the DVD player into the Y connector that is now on the back of yourTV.
5 Run your yellow Video output from the DVD into the Back of the Set's yellow input.
That should do it. The sound should be clear and correct with dialog, effects and music.
Hope this helps,
Best,
Mark

How do I get my rca truflat tv to get out of mono?

Hello
Press the MTS on the remote control handset to select STEREO, MONO or SAP. All the options will be available only when the current TV channel is broadcasting that option. Channels will not always carry programes, that have all MTS options. If "STEREO" appears on the screen when you select a channel means stereo sound is available with current programme. You can hear sound from both speakers. If broadcast is not strong and clear, stereo sound will not be available. Press "MTS" button to change it to "Mono". This will eliminate the noise. If "MONO" appears on the screen when you select a channel, stereo effect will not be availabe, even though you have set it to stereo. If "SAP" appears when you select a channel 'Second Audio Programe' [SAP] broadcasting is available for that programme. Press the "MTS" button to 'SAP' and you can hear that programe in different language or some other kind of audio.

Cant hook it up to the tv and make sound on speakers

There are a couple of things going on here.

First concept: The physical TV is NOT a good source of audio or video. It's there to turn audio and video from other sources into something your senses can enjoy. Many TV's (monitors) don't even have speakers.

You probably want the TV-related audio to play on your Sony. Your best source is to get it where it comes from. That is NOT the TV, more likely cable or satellite. Draw the best multi-channel audio (digital, if available) from it into the compatible input on the Sony.

The cable box will also have video and analog stereo audio. Run the BEST VIDEO (HDMI or component) to the TV's video and the analog stereo RCA Audio Out to the TV's Audio In so you can watch and hear cable without the Sony if you like.

You could also run the TV's analog Audio Out RCA pair into an AUX input of the Sony, but that would limit whatever you hear to stereo and any audio limitations of the TV.

How do i connect to laptop? i can only hear 2 of 4!

If your laptop hasn't a 5.1 surround card you can't connect them in a true 5.1 surround system way. But if you have a stereo sound card and if you don't care about true multichannel and want just to hear sound from all the speakers you neet to connect the adapter that came along with your speaker set-just plug and match the colors from the speaker plugs with the adapter and buy a jack stereo to 2 rca cable and plug the rca connectors to the adapter and plug the stereo jack to you laptop.

Sound Won't play

We had the same problem with our last rca stereo. I don't remember what model it was. My husband took it apart and found that there was and area on the circuit board that was fried. I don't know of any other solution then the one we chose. Trash it. I'm not expert but I would imagine that you could by a new stereo for the price of replacing that circuit board. Just don't buy an rca. They are junk. Our new rca just quit playing cds.

RCA Audio Out not working?

You don't say whether you're successfully getting sound out of your stereo or not. I'll assume for the moment you are. Still getting sound out the TV is perfectly normal - RCA plugs have no mechanism for automatically disconnecting the built in speakers (in this respect, they're different from a headphone socket). Solution should simply be to press the mute button on the TV remote - although this will silence the TV speakers, you wouldn't normally expect it to affect the RCA output (failing that, just turn the TV volume control right down).
