Hi Chris,
This kind of symptoms indicated of problem in its convergence. If the symptom can't be adjusted or cured through the convergence alignment in the menu, this is an indication that convergence circuitry inside gone bad. Here are some of the convergence problem.
I've got a pioneer pro-720hd. - jdvillanueva_25.jpg

Your unit used set of STK392-110 as convergence IC's which is mounted in the heatsink. Replaced this IC and some of the resistor around which is also gone bad (mostly low resistance resistor) and your unit will back to normal again.
But before you replaced the IC's and resistors, check first the board for bad solder joints(cracked/dried/cold solder) in this section. You must work in the brightest area or used table /portable lamp and magnifying glass because this is hard to spot.
If you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't troubleshoot the unit yourself, I would advice you to look for a qualified tv technician to isolate the problem.
Also, check if your unit is still under warranty/extended warranty period, avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free. Opening the back cover will void the warranty.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

I have a pioneer tv model pro-720hd. The picture just went fuzzy and everything has a blue shadow around it. What could be wrong?

Sounds like a problem in the blue HV convergence circuit, bad yoke or IC chip that drives the yoke coils.Could also be a bad blue CRT. Look at IC901, STK392-110 and releated components in the circuit, page 97 of service manual.

Look at the

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Below are more details for both items. Also, complete repair kits with instructions and repair support are avail from site such as www.TvRepairKits.com

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

I would say that your Projection light is busted, I'd recommend that you take it back if you have a warranty, if not then find the appropriate part by googling a company that can service those parts for you.

Colors are skewed on Pioneer Pro-520HD

you can replace your the convergence chips on the convergence board. The board is to identify because it has a large heat sink. The convergence chips normally starts with STK... After you find the chip, you can buy online (ebay has a lot of listing) and costs around $10. If you know how to solder, it is very easy to do. I just replace the convergence chips on myPRO-610HD and it works perfectly.

Web camera is not a clear picture

is it because its dark? for this webcam and alot of other webcams, the lighting of the room is a kep factor for the quality of your picture =]
i think the reason the picture sucks and its fuzzy and the playback is slow is because its dark, in your room... theres like a funnel looking thing infront of your lens, try to keep the funnel thing from keeping a shadow.. if you see in the daylight with the windows open or open lighting from the sun, the quality of your picture is bomb =] if this doesnt work, im sorry =]

Its a slight possibility that a 2.00 Part called a capacitor could be bad on the screen drive voltage source. But most likly it sounds like the Picture tubes are comming to the end of there life expectancy. If the crts are weak there is a crt rejuvinator that could possibly clean the grids off each color gun. But this is a crap shoot, as sometimes it destroys the tubes. These type of repairs are not for the handi-man or a consumer to do. There are no real user replaceable parts inside so unless your able to solder and know the HI Voltage saftey issues, you should call a pro to assist you in this repair. Good Luck
