Question about Toys

I returned a defective metal detector toy to Blue Toy Company on Friday, October 29, 2010 and it was received on November 2, 2010. Today's date is May 26, 2011 and I haven't heard peep from your company let alone a refund. What's my next step; to contact the Better Business Bureau?

    I purchased 2 of these metal detectors from a thrift store for $5 each. Neither worked although both came on. I removed 8 screws and 1 bolt on each and took a look inside. One had a speaker wire broken off so I re-soldered it and it still wouldn't detect a coin on the ground. I then adjusted the UR4 pot inside with a flat head screw drive by twisting its adjustment counter clockwise. It then worked great. I opened the second detector and adjust the pot and now both work great. I believe that it is a good design just poor quality control and factory prep. The problem with his toy is the motor that spins the belt to rotate the toy is only held down by 3 screws and there should be 4. I check on 2 toys and the is a manufacture defect. Once I tightened down the screws and added a 4th screw where there is a pre-drilled hole, the motor was held down securely and the toy now works. I hope they don't ship these toys missing the 4th screw on purpose

We have lost some of the small pieces to this set- the small magic wand, the small colored cylinders, the metal slide that the coin goes in, and the small magnetic ball. Is there any way to get these...

look on the toy box and call/email the company ask for replacement parts..if it's not too old you should be able to get replacement parts for a small price from Doug and Milissa company. Good luck! Also: if it's an older toy you can get one used on the internet usually. Good luck!

Returned a defective metal detector to Merchsource in Chino, CA on 01-10-11 and the tracking number shows it was accepted on 01-12-11. As of today's date 01-29-11 I have not received the replacement.

i think it usually takes at least 2 weeks from china, but my experience has been more like 4. its extremely slow and sucks when youre waiting. its kind of like buying a car, after they have your $, they are alot less helpful and much slower all of a sudden. i would ask sears to help, they might have some pull with the manufacturer.

Have you tried calling the telephone number on the back of your credit card? The website may also have some telephone numbers to use as well.

On these types of disputes, I like to write a letter directly to the credit card company giving all of the information you listed above plus the steps you took to try contacting the company in order to resolve the matter. Usually suggesting that you might close your account is enough incentive for the credit card company to get moving on giving you the money owed.

Because of regulations set by the authority in your (any) country which controls the radio spectrum usage, toys in particular are only allowed to operate on certain frequency bands and the transmitter must be controlled by signal sources (oscillators) that are 'crystal' controlled (quartz). These maintain a very stable signal at a specific frequency just like a 'quartz watch.' The receivers need not be that stable so the controlled toy has a simpler circuit that can be tuned but this isn't useful in your case since that would only result in reducing the sensitivity (range) unless the transmitter crystal was changed.
I'm sure the manufacturer has anticipated the possibility that two or more of these toys might be operated in close proximity and probably has multiple models with different crystals available but unless you can contact them, this won't do you much good as you would likely have to return the toy to have it changed.
