Every time I print a Word doc, the printer prints about 6 lines before ejecting the page and starting over again printing the entire file. The page eject only occurs on the first page of a word doc, prints the rest of the doc fine and it only occurs when printing word documents, no other types of files.

follow these steps
1) Press ST1+READY button together
2)Turn on the tvs speed 40plus passbook printer
3) The 4 LED will blink 4 times. Release the button ST1+READY immediately after 4 blinks
4)PRESS ST1 - ST1+READY+EJECT starts blinking
5)again PRESS ST1 - ST1+EJECT+ST2 starts blinking
6)again PRESS ST1 - ST1+EJECT starts blinking
7)again PRESS ST1 - ST1+EJECT starts blinking
8)again PRESS ST1 - READY+EJECT starts blinking
9) printer is READY wait and PUT PAPER.
10) The paper goes in and comes out 3 times. will take about 2 minutes.
11) Paper ejects automatically after printing.
12) turn off the printer and turn it on.
In the printer's dialogue find the print pages number. Print page from/to and select 20 pages chunks. In effect print only part of the document at a time. Add all chunks together in one pile. Work around I know, but it works.
hello You either have to change the ink cartridge or try to clean the ink cartridge nozzles as described in the user manual; http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/924/en/om_en/om_en.pdf On page 54 it states the following:
To clean the ink cartridge nozzles: 1 Load plain paper. For more information, see "Loading Paper" on page 19. 2 In Windows XP, click Start-Control Panel-Printers and Other Hardware-Printers and Faxes. In Windows 2000, click Start-Settings-Printers. 3 Right-click the Dell Photo AIO Printer 924 icon. 4 Click Printing Preferences. The Printing Preferences dialog box opens. 5 Click the Maintenance tab. 6 Click Clean Print Cartridges. 7 If the print quality has not improved, click Print Again. 8 Print your document again to verify the improved print quality. 9 If you are not satisfied with the print quality, wipe the ink cartridge nozzles, and then print your document again.
In printing web pages and email please try to check also the print setting before you print the page cause word document files and web pages are not the same in there printing setting. Web pages and emails has different setting so my recommendation is that when you print email and webpages next time then please check the printer settings then modify it the same settings as you wish or as your word document's output. Open the document that you want to print.
2. On the File menu, click Print, and then click Setup, Properties, or Preferences.
Look for a Best Mode Setting
this printer has several modes one being draft mode, another one best mode
in best mode the printer uses memory to render the photo you are trying to print. Note that in this mode, printing takes longer and more memory is required from your computer. from page 17 of the hp k5400 user manual
Also you may have to increase the virtual memory of the windows pc to allow the computers hard drive to allocate more hard drive memory to the memory swap file if the computer's ram is not enough to print the photo.
It is a setting in the control panel under system - performance.
