A new remote should. It could either be that the remote is broken or the receiver on the tv. Make sure that the tv works with other buttons such as volume and channel. If everything except the power button on the remote works, just get a new remote.

On/off and volumn won't work with remote. Changed batteries, changed remotes, only works w/side buttons. All else works on remote.

Buttons' contact pads wear out, but sometimes it's dust inside. You can try opening the remote, carefully lifting out the rubber button assembly, and washing it in clean water - the rubber pad only! - no electronics. Also make sure the contact pads on the circuit board are clean (do not wet them, but a light alcohol wipe might help). Then dry it well and reassemble.
If it still doesn't work, the conductive coating the the buttons is worn. I've sometimes gotten a bit more life out of a remote by very gently rubbing the button's contact are with a SOFT lead pencil to deposit a bit more graphite. It helps but is not a definitive fix. There are re-coating kits available online, but at that point it's time to buy a new remote.
If you can't find the original remote, try an aftermarket "universal" remote and program it for your appliance.

Remote not working properly

It's because the rubber layer(keypad) on the top of the remote has moved a bit or so. Just open the remote carefully align the keypad. Put the pieces together including battery. Test it.....

It's because the circuit in you remote has mulfunctioned. Try consulting a repair shop or buy a new one.

Hope this helped

I got a new remote for 2003 dodge grand caravan, I programmed it using one of my old ones and now both old remotes don't work. What did i do wrong

Please note carefully that you must have one working remote before carrying out the following procedure. If you do not have the working remote then you have to consult the locksmith to reprogram the one with the help of a suitable key programmer.
1. Press LOCK button 5 times at 2 second intervals to resynchronize remote.
2. Insert key into the ignition switch. Turn ignition to the RUN position (as far as you can
go without cranking engine). Wait for ignition chimes to stop.3. Using the working remote, press and hold the UNLOCK button on the remote for 4 to 10
4. Within the specified 4 to 10 seconds, continue pressing the UNLOCK button and then
press the PANIC button ( on the programmed remote ) for 1 second and release both
buttons. A chime will sound to indicate that the remote programming mode has been
entered ( allow 3 seconds for chime to sound ).
5. Within 30 seconds of the chime, press and release the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons
simultaneously then press and release just the UNLOCK button on the same remote.
A chime will sound indicating the remote has been programmed. Press and release
the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously and then press the UNLOCK button on
each new remote you wish to program at this time. A chime will sound afer each
additional remote is programmed.
6. Turn the ignition OFF and remove key.
7. Test Remotes.

The volume on my remote control will not work

If the controls on the set work but not the remote it is the remote---many of these get some liquid spilled (common and only takes a little) which will cause several buttons next to each other not to function or have to be pressed real hard to work.

I recently aquired a used remote for a vehicle--one button did not and another was real hard to press----got it apart and was able to clean it inside----certain care used and the remote now works like new.

My vizio unversal remote stop working for my dynex tv

Check your remote cell. and also then any other remote with your tv. If other remote working with your tv than the tv is ok. Now u need to open the remote manual and read it carefully. If u have no manual then try this trick as the most universal remote require settings. turn your tv on and press the mute button on your mobile for 30 to 45 seconds. As you tv show mute immediately release the mute button. Remote will start work again as it needs to correct code for different models. If no success try too contact the store from where u but it or buy new one

Amana ap077r one button on remote doesnt work, how can i fix, i can press all the buttons on the remote and they work except the down button. do i need a new remote or is there an easy fix to this problem.

You can fix the problem of the failure of the contact within your remote. First of all you need to understand that there is CARBON contact underneath the pad that you press. Carefully remove the remote control, use a sharp knife to carefully open without damaging. Take the pad and the remote control PCB out of the cover. carefully using a good cloth clean the PCB and the carbon dots under the pad. if you happen to see any maiture/ sweat tugged inside, use a hair dryer to slowly heat up to remove and dry. Now identify the defective pad. You can get to buy the carbon dots but if have any old calculators/ remote that is lying arround, carefull cut off the carbon dot and using a good glue stick it to the problem pad. If your PCB tracks are intact and if the Remotecontroller IC is alright then you have rectifed the fault. Hope my advice helps.Good day

Search forward button (>>) on DMR-E65 remote inoperational

Carefully pry the remote apart (check for screws). Then you can take a q-tip and some alcohol or Windex and clean any dirt or contamination from the circuit board and the bottom of the button pad. You can some times see rings on the board where the buttons make contact and that is what needs cleaned off.

Remote key malfunction

Unless you've wrecked the remote by physical damage or by immersing it, likely the remote battery is dead. I have a 2005 passat and the remote takes a single cr2032 3v battery.
Gently pry the remote in half on the "non-button" side carefully with a knife or fine screwdriver to separate the key from the buttons, then the part with the bottons on it again can be carefully pried in half to expose the battery. Be careful with it - everything is plastic and a new remote is expensive.

Will not turn off or on or change volume with remote

If you have verified the functions work by using the buttons on the TV then do the following.
Step 1- Pull the batteries out of the remote and leave them out until Step 4.
Step 2- Press and release each and every button one at a time on the remote control until every button has been pressed and released at least once!
Step 3- If your remote has slide switches, you must move the switch to each position then repeat the button pushing in Step 2.
(When you're done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the unit the remote came with!)
Step 4- Put the batteries back into the remote, being very careful to install them correctly.
New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones.
If the remote does not work now then you may need a new one.
