Check to make sure filter screen is not partly clogged up. pull spark plug to see if full of gunk, if so clean and reset the gap to manual specs.lastly check your air filter and clean it by tapping against a hard surface or replacefilter. If it happens again you may have to drain gas and remix with proper ratio as called out in your manual. Also verify that the oil you are using to mix with the gas is a 2 cycle engine oil.

The carburetor sounds like it is in need of a "leaner" fuel mixture. You don't have to make a new batch of fuel for it. But, you do need to adjust the L mixture screw (one closest to the engine). The L and H mixture screws have unconventional heads on them to prevent tampering; per EPA mandated emission regulations. Get an automotive type 22 gauge (I think) plastic wire connector. Tap the open end of it down onto the head of the L screw. The plastic will stretch and spread a little making a tight fit. I use one with a ring terminal on one end. Then, once that is accomplished, get the machine running and try to get it to WOT (wide open throttle) once warmed up. Then, turn the L screw counterclockwise until the engine's RPM's increase (maybe up to 1/4 of a turn). This will effectively "lean" out the entire WOT fuel flow and allow for those highter RPM's, providing everything else is in working order. Here is a carb manufacturer's tutorial on tuning that carb.

This is a great comment with link to real carb info, not the bullshot on eHow or the EPA mandated worthless tripe from the manufacturer. Do you vote Democrat? Guess who keeps the EPA in full swing crawling up all our collective as**es

No, I vote for whomever I feel is real and tells the most truth. Yeah, the current regime has alot of new regulations stifling businesses big and small. Hell, in July alone the Odummy admin. enacted over 350 NEW regulations, with more every day. Too much government control!

What is fuel mixture on 25 cc craftsman weedwacker

This small engine needs a 40:1 ratio. Use only 2 cycle oil, not motor oil. If you are mixing one gallon of fuel use 3.2 ounces of the 2 cycle oil. This should give correct mixture so you do not get lots of smoke when you start. Take the time to measure. Note: there should be a marking somewhere on the engine about the mixture.

What is the problem?this ryobi ss26 weed trimmer gets fuel and spark but yet will not start

Is the fuel the correct type. Most weed trimmers use mixed fuels and they must be the correct mixture ratio of gasoline and 2-cycle oil. Some are 16 to 1, some are 30 to 1, some are 40 to 1. Check your manual or on the unit for the correct mixture ratio. If that is correct, and you are getting fuel and spark, the only other thing that would affect it would be a mechanical problem such as low compression due to using fuel with not enough oil causing premature wear. Best Wishes

POULAN 25CC NOT STARTING AND BEFORE THIS HAPPEND IT WAS OVER HEATING

overheating on a 2 stroke is usually caused by lack of oil mixture. try draining all the fuel and re mixing the ratioo to a 40 to 1 ratio. if no smoke then richen the mixture till it slightly smokes. i.e. 50:1 ratio

I have a 2 cycle Troy-Bilt TB90BC line trimmer. Won't idle. I've had the carburetor dipped, installed a new carb kit, replace the gas lines, but will only run at full speeds. Dies out easily....

One of three things is occuring here. The IDLE SPEED SCREW (Phillips head) on the throttle plate is screwed in way too far. The L and H mixture screws are open way too much allowing the carb to use excessive fuel, even on startup. Those 2 screws may need adjusting. The metering lever in your carb is not adjusted flush with the carb body flange and is holding the gas needle open constantly. Check these things and post back.

If you have mixed your gas and oil to a 4 to one mix you have way too much oil in your gasoline. Drain out your fuel tank and carburetor. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remove the spark plug and clean if necessary. Mix your fuel in a fuel container at 40 to one. Some sites even recommend a 50 to one mixture. (50 to one mixture is one pint of oil to 6 gallons of gasoline) Refill your fuel tank on the trimmer and try to crank, if it does not want to crank within 4-5 pulls then you may want to give it a very small shot of starting ether in the carburetor intake and try to crank again. Good Luck, I hope this helped, Please rate me, Thanks

Remove your spark plug, take a rag and dry it up shoot a little WD-40 into it reinstall. Do not prime the unit or turn the choke on just pull it should start for you, make sure you are are not leaving the choke on, that is a common mistake.

Not true. It is important to read the package and fuel/oil mixture ratio ie: 40:1, 50:1, 32:1, as long as the mixtures are the same, you can use one tank for all of the 40:1 tools, one can for all the 50:1 mixtures, one can for all the 32:1 mixtures. essentially all the 2 stroke oils are the same, the numbers just designate parts of oil(quantity) to parts of gas.

Homelite zip start 2cycle trimmer.

I had this same problem, would run a couple of seconds, stop, and you couldn't start it again.
Had good gas/oil mix 50:1 and 25cc Homelite. Had replaced the fuel filter, gas, spark plug, and took carb apart and cleaned with carb cleaner and primer bulb worked fine. None of that fixed it. What did? Take the muffler off and see if it will start and run with the muffler off. If it does, chances are the muffler is clogged. Also check the exhaust ports and clean them out if plugged with black oil carbon residue.
My muffler was clogged up, took it off, cleaned out the exhaust ports, there was some oil that was in the muffler(oil that didn't burn during combustion). It now starts and runs like a champ on first or second pull.
