I removed water pump should the impeller spin freely?

water pumps when in good condition have a resistance to spinning freely from the load on the seal at the back of the impeller /or seal on the motor shaft and from the magnets in the field material of the motor

To replace impeller on a sls200 pool pump, does it unscrew clockwise or anticlockwise

Reverse clockwise. Make sure to replace the shaft seal when you change the impeller, or else it will leak 99% of the time. You need to stop the shaft from moving to turn the impeller. See video, impellers and shaft seals are the same how to get to the shaft in the back is not so hopefully its exposed in the back and you don't have to take it all apart.

Remove impeller housing cover. Insert screwdriver carefully into back of motor to keep the armature from turning then unscrew impeller clockwise or opposite the direction of operation. Replace seal on impeller and pump housing. Lube seal with graphite. Replace impeller and housing cover. Remove screwdriver from motor. You should be good to go.

I have a Kitchenaid dishwasher KDS18. How do I replace the TANK SEAL at the bottom of the door? Do I take the door off to replace it? Thanx

It's always best to remove a door to replace a seal. Lay the door on a hard flat surface so there isn't any twist in it. Remove the old seal and install the new one.

This is the sign of a pump failure, the brushes in the pump motor are getting weak and this makes it hard to start the pump. Once you spin it it will take off because it had the impeller loosend before starting. I would say at the least you have bad brushes and maybe a bearing in the pump trying to seize on you. I would get a pump motor and keep it handy!

My impeller was clogged and my pump was only humming. so i cleaned the impeller put it back together but it still only hum s its a baqua pure 2 hp pump. any advise

Check to see if the motor spins freely or appears to be dragging or stuck. If it does not spin freely, then you need to overhaul the pump and replace bearings and shaft seal or locate the source of the dragging in the pump housing

Impeller does not spin freely

Pop off the half dollar sized cap at the back of the motor and use an adjustable wrench to hold the back of the shaft. They make a tool for this but with a little innovation an adjustable will do the job fine. When puting the impeller back don't tighten it more than hand tight and don't bump the motor on to seat it, this will overtighten it. You may have crossthreaded the impeller and will need to tap it out or replace it.
