Hello. The red light is the IR (infrarad luminator) this inhance the night vision capabilities of the scope, monocular. Do not look directlly into the IR tube, The Paramount Moonlight has gone to the land of the Red Star. The scope contract is up. it junk, to expensive to repair. stewbison

Roll the batteries once installed to rub through any oxidation on contacts and on batteries. If it does not remedy it, you may need to look closer at the condition of the wiring.

I dont have a manual with my paramount night vision. how do you operate it. i can get a red light but thats all.

Hello, You should have two switches, one for on/off and the other for IR intensifier (red). There should be or not two LED one green to indicate on/off--no green LED it off, if the green LED glows green it on. The same with IR luminator, red is glowing the IR is on, if not glowing red, it off.

Make sure you have new batteries and make sure that the polaity is correct---positive +,
negative -.

Push the on button, if you push the right button the green LED will glow, then push IR button. Put you hand in front of the monocular and see if there is a red glow on the palm of you hand, if there is then the IR is on. Never look into the IR lens. Now you can look through the eye piece.

Now, if there no green tent inside of the monocular then there are other problems with you NV devise.

Never, and I mean NEVER look at bright light at night or in the daylight. This will destroy the image tube. That is one reason why they are call night vision....Only for viewing in the dark. stewbison

I got a Night Guardian night vision monocular scope. It doesn't work, but you can see the red pale light on its small reticule if switched on. I dont know why it doesnt work anymore, before it is fine....

These NV monoculars and this Guardian is made by ATN. Normally what happen is the image intensifier tube has gone back to Red Star country. In other words, it gone! The reason why the IR light up is it on a different circuit and has nothing to do with the internal electronic of this NV monocular.

All this IR light does is to provide invisiable light to inhance the image on image tube on very dark/clouded nights. Someone else using and NV devise can see IR light on your monocular and vise versa to you, you can see its IR light. stewbison

Infer red light comes on but can"t see anything no

Binko, The IR luminator is on a different circuit. There could be a number of problem with your monocular. This NV devise is manufactured in Russia and sold Rigel Optics name. If I have my shop set up you could send to me, but I am retired and sold all of my electronic testing equipment.
About all I can reccomend is call Rigel Optics and ask them what it would cost fix you monocular.
If the cost is to prohibtive, buy you a new one. There are a few companies in the US that manufacture all of their components. stewbison

My pvs7 wont stay on thay shut of after 30 seconds and then start to shut of ever few seconds

Hello, have you or someone else pointed this night vision devise at bright lights, street lights, head lights. If so, maybe the damage has/hasn't alread been done. STOP. This PVS-7 goggles with ITT image tube with generation 2 or 2+ or possibly generation 3 tube. The devise is an American made unit, and the best in the world. Nobody can compete with the USA on NV. They sat the standards on Night Vision.

Have you replace the 6 volt battery? Get the goggle in a darken room then turn the switch on.
see if the 25mm plate will turn green and stay on. But first replace that battery.
Therefore, if this test works, then never and I mean never shine NV devises into bright lights, it will destroy them every time.

PS. send me another message and let see what happen. stewbison

Hello, is the IR glowing red, don't look into the IR lens. Just place your hand in front of it and see the is a red glare on your had. If there is a red glare then IR is work.
Another thing when you taking a look see through the Night owl NV monocular there should be a green glow from the image intensifier tube, if not, then the NV monucular isn't working properly. stewbison

Hello, sorry to tell you. The image intensifier tube is going south in a slow way. It is cost prohibitive to have it fixed. It might cost you in the neighborhood of $150 to $250+ plus shipping both ways. If you don't know what to do with it. Sale it on eBay. GB...stewbison

Hello, Your Paramount 3-6X was manufactured for Night Vision and Night Vision sold them to Moonlight which had their name Paramount and logo install on the monocular. Now, Moonlight uses a foil type sticker with their name and logo on the sticker and it is installed on the Night Vision Inc. Russian NV devises. Here is the bad news. The hole monocular was manufactured in Russia. I'm telling you the truth.

Forget about getting it repaired. The cost to repair your monocular would be cost prohibitive.
Auction it off on eBay, or you can send me a message through fixya. What do you want for it? Sorry, GB....stewbison

Cannot adjust " 3 -> 'infinity' "

As you probably know by now, you have in your hands a CHEAP russian 1st Gen. NV device and that whatever $$ you paid for it was $$ way too much. The russians make these things for the export (think USA) market from left over 1st Generation junk that did not work well even for THEM. The USA 1st Gen. is to them what our 3rd Gen. is to us.
There is no repair or service centers for this russian NV in the USA. This is a prime example of 'Buyer Beware'. If it looks too good to be true, it's probably junk. Save your $$ and buy American.
Remember that '1stGen(generation) is very OLD NV technology,(this what we used in Viet-Nam in the early'60's, it was like 'rocket science' then, but it was all we had) the picture will be very grainy and fuzzy and the picture will appear to be sorta floating about. Pointing it at a bright light can burn out the element. Yikes! There is NOTHING you can do to adjust this to make it look good. The 2nd Gen. is only a little better, just a little more expensive. The 3rdGen. is much better and you will have a pretty clear picture and happy results. When you see these TV shows where they are using NV, they most likely are using 3rdGen NV. You will spend much more $$ for these units. The 4thGen. NV is the latest and top dog but you will have to hock your car, your dog and give up eating for a long time to afford these units. Go to; www.nightvision4less.com/night_vision_scopes.htm and you will see all four types of NV USA made. I have nothing to do with nor am I associated with this company, I simply give it to you as a reference point in your quest for information about NV products. Good luck :)
