Asus seem to ignore that someone can need the support drivers for raid (the ones we put on a floppy for F6 when installing Windows XP)

So, this is the second motherboard from asus make me sick about searching it!!

I searched directly with the chip number, and found it after 2 days of research. But now i can't find anything for the P5RD1-VM. &$%*$&%

RAID implementations will vary from controller to controller, and even from bios to bios revision or version for the same controllers.
You should "image" the raid on the old board, then delete the raid on the old system.
In the new system, you need to treat these drives like they are new, blank hard disks. Any partitions will need to be removed, and the RAID created on the new board. Once this is done, you can use your partition imaging software to drop the data back onto the new RAID partition. Seagate I believe has imaging software available in Seatools, or you can use something like Acronis True Image or GHOST.

SATA Controllers are always on. you can't disable or enable it.
RAID and SATA are two different subjects and they are not dependent each other.
so if you got a problem with your motherboard explain it clearly.

RAID 0 on Asus motherboard

Hi macjax,

I agree Asus wasn't using their noodle when they came up with that one. With the JMicron Controller your sort of forced to use an external for raid. But getting another Raid controller is simple. I like High Point Rocket Raid, and it's simple to install and setup. HERE's a link to there site. The main reason that they should be using an external is for hotswapability. But for some reason JMicron wanted to allow for more drives. Can you image having for external drives!!! Crazy.

Anyway, if you get another controller card, you'll go through needing to load the drivers and change Bios to accept them, and at the same time you can disconnect the JMicron raid. As far as speed is concerned, you're still on the SATA platform, I find no difference on speed unless you have two drives of different sizes.

Good Luck

Mark

SATA RAID Controller Card Problem?

You are almost there. Go into your BIOS and enable RAID. Then your raid bios should show up on next boot.

I am aware your motherboard has just two sets of sata pins ( only two hard drives can be used )
Have you flashed your bios to latest one ?
Sure your cables for sata are not damaged ?
Are you sure the sata drives are in working order ?

Sata raid config

first check your bios & see what raid chips are enabled, usually there's 2. Your main raid is on the first 4 sata connectors, the other chipset probably controlls the remaining sata ports. So if there's an option to disable one raid chip, disable one, just not the one that you're using. I don't know what your bios screen looks like,so this is just a general view based on my experences with various boards, mainly asus.

I cant install my hdd sata

Under many cases, the default settings for additional onboard SATA/RAID controller could have been set to [Disabled] when delivered. This will cause the controller to stop its function completely. Suggestion: Please refer to your user’s manual for detailed description on how to enable onboard SATA/RAID controller via adjusting jumper or BIOS settings. Clean SATA cable with a couple cotton sticks lightly dipped into alcohol. If you sitll can not see the SATA drive from within the bios your onboard SATA/RAID controller is defective. Contact Asus tech M-F eastern time at: 812-282-2787. Tech will assign you a case number. Tech will than connect you to the RMA department for replacment/repair.

M7NCD ULTRA raid drivers

If the SATA drive is operating in 3.0 Gbps mode and your motherboard can only support 1.5 Gbps mode, the drive will not be detected in BIOS or XP. Try jumpering the drive to SATA 1.5 Gbps mode. The label on your hard drive should indicate which pins should be shorted to achieve this setting; if not, look up your particular model on WD's website to find the manual.
