Question about Kodak EASYSHARE 5300 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Not printing My father-in-law bought a 5300 and had problems. After a 27 minute call on the premium help line, he was sent a new print head and told to install it. Since that has been done, the printer will not do anything. We have tried calibrating it but all it does is spit out 4 blank sheets of paper from whichever tray is being used and then informs us that it is out of paper, which it isn't. The scanner/copier functions won't work either. It's not hooked up to a computer. Any suggestions? Please.

    Same problem as jgladders. Didn't even connect it to the computer yet. I'm just at the calibration step. It spits blank pages out, then tells me the tray is empty... electronics & their little mind games...

    the printer is telling me that i need to reinstall the print head and the cartidges attached to it because it cannot detect the printhead or it may be loose

No i have a kodak 3500 and before it evens gives me chance to calibrate it or anything it just tells me this "Printhead missing, not installed correctly or come loose. Install printhead and ink cartridges. if already installed, remove ink cartridges and printhead, then reinstall. see users guide" i have done exactly this and it still doesnt work. help me plase

Try to check first the type of your paper, if the printer is just feeding the paper, maybe its not detecting the paper that you are using,.try to do this.

restart your printer, turn it off, unplug the power cable at the back for 20 sec. then replug it back again. turn on your printer. before you print or try to calibrate the printer, do a Media Sensor Calibration, do this by pressing and holding and the same time the copy and cancel button (Note: this will only work in 5000 series of kodak all in one printer) do this 2 or three times, it will not print anything, it will just feed the paper and spit it out blank. then try to print again your document, or try to calibrate again your printer.

Won't accept new cartridge. 5300 Easyshare


I had a problem with my Kodak printer. I called Kodak explained the problem, they told we what would fix it and they sent me the part, extra ink cartridges, and some photo paper, all free of charge. So I would suggest calling Kodak and let them know what it is doing I'm sure they can help...

Kodak easyshare 5300 all in one printer


I had the same problem from new , all printing was very poor and a pinkish colour, I contacted Kodak and they sent me a replacement printhead and new printcartridges free of charge. The printheads appear to be a common fault with the Kodak printer , mine is a 5300. As soon as I replaced the print head all printing was extremely good and correct colours!! the print catridges appear cheap but run out very quickly also! the 6x4 printing is easy to use however but next time I would choose another make. hope this helps . Phone Kodak and explain you have not used the printer , I am sure they are aware of the manufacturing fault with this printers printhead!! I am told some people have had the printhead changed a number of times in succession.

5300 will print only blanks

See my post that I just put. I just called Kodak and they said that it is the print head. THe black or the color may stop working for no good reason. I had this issue w/ my 5300. It was fine, then 3 minutes later the black stopped. Cleaning the heads won't work.

Call the Kodak customer service line (found on their contact website) and they will set up a case and send you the print head(s) for free. They'll ask for your service number (which is located on a sticker on the bottom left corner of the machine, where you'd change the ink). They didn't ask the age, how often I use it, where/when I bought it....nothing - just what that number was, and what the problem was.

It takes 2-3 business days to send you the print head though - so ughhh to that, but it is free! Yippee! If you are okay with this - I changed the color of my text to blue (since my black wouldn't print) and I printed temporarily everything in blue (until I ran out of color ink!)

Print Head error

As a member here I drop in now and then. I saw your post and I thought I would review.

Since the time of shipment has passed, your only option is to replace the print head again. Before I help with that, please check the following. Did you make sure the print head was snapped into place and secure. Also, did you make sure the ink carts were snapped into place. These actions can make a difference.

Kodak 5300 Printhead problems


Return the printer to the store. I had to do it myself 3 times. First I got a 5100 with the printhead error, got a replacement the day after the scanner was producing distorted  image. Upgraded to a 5300, the scanner wouldn't work at all.  To avoid problems get yourself a Canon or Epson.

Kodak 5300 aio printer won't print black


It is the print head. Cleaning the heads does not do any good, either does replacing the ink. What you'll need to do is contact Kodak's customer service line and they can replace it for you free of charge. On this site everyone seems to be saying it is consistently the black that stops, however, based on what Kodak said it is possible that either the black or the color can have this same issue.

When you call in they will ask you for your service number, which is located on the bottom left corner of the machine, when you lift the lid (as if you were going to replace the ink). They didn't ask me when I bought it, how much I used it, etc.

They will set up a case for you - it takes 2-3 business days for the print head to arrive. They will provide you with an invoice number as well. Be sure to document it all just incase the head never comes, or if there are additional issues after you receive it (and/or if it doesn't solve the problem)

Kodak Easy Share 5500 will not print anything with black in it

Within the tool, select Print quality, then No black, missing text, or text quality.

After answering all the questions (assuming you haven't abused your printhead) you will be prompted to enter a service number, name, and address to be mailed a replacement printhead.

I just went through this and was told my printhead would arrive in 2 to 5 business days.
