Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Warped Text The text in may scans sometimes appears warped at the bottom of the document. I would think this is due to the rollers not pulling the page evenly but I'm not sure what would cause this problem or how to fix it.

Yes it sounds like the eject rollers are not kicking out your doc properly. You do do not say what make or model you have so its impossible to help you further. However, if you have an eject roller which contacts another roller either above or below the eject roller then I susect they have unequal pressure. Bend the roller holder so it bears down on the eject roller with more pressure.
Good luck

I want to save scan to ms word 2010

is it a text document that you scanned? if so the scanned document will be saved as a picture type of file, depending on which you selected when you set up you scanner. it will be a .jpg, .jpeg, .bmp, .png, .tiff, ect. If you want it to be a text document in word then you need to have a program that can read the text while it's scanned. The program is known as an OCR Program. It will make text in pictures become searchable as text. If this is what you are trying to accomplish, if you just want a picture to appear in a page in a document, simply choose to add the picture by importing it to the document as a picture. Some scanners will come with Programs like this bundled for free and others may even have this ability programmed in if you go into the settings you will be able to choose that option. There are a few free OCR programs for free. I think it stands for Ocular Context Recognition some can even read hand written text.

HIGHLIGHTING THE TEXT

Is it possible to re-scan or re-save the document you are working on at a higher resolution?

While 144 dpi is listed as the lowest possible resolution to scan OCR text, sometimes it is finicky at that level. Also, you might want to optimize for OCR, straightening and taking out the speckles and such.

Hope that helps and isn't too elementary to your issue.

Red portion of text and picture is warped. Just started after 10 years. Obvious problem with text as red text appears out of sync with other text.

Hello:
Replace or have replaced the convergence IC's there are two of them One for Blue and the other for Red and Green, If one of them has failed as yours have then a good practice is to replace the both as the other is not far behind. The part in your unit is part #STK-392-110 replace them with STK-392-120 for longer life .

How to scan picture to upload on computer

First, ensure you are connecting the scanner to your computer. I'm assuming USB connection, and that you're using an operating system supported by this device.

Next, install the drivers and software for this device. Those should have come with an installation disc, but if you don't have that disc, you can get them from the PIXMA MP830 support site, here:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=123&modelid=12804

To scan a single document, place the document:
1. Place the document face down on the platen glass.
2. Open the MP Navigator 2.2 software.
3. Click Scan Photo/Document.
4. Click Document Type drop-down arrow and select the type of document to be scanned. Chose from the following types.
  • Color Document(Simplex): Select this to scan one side of color documents.
  • Color Document(Duplex): Select this to scan both sides of color documents.
  • B/W Document(Simplex): Select this to scan one side of monochrome documents.
  • B/W Document(Duplex): Select this to scan both sides of monochrome documents.
  • Text(Simplex): Select this to scan one side of text documents.
  • Text(Duplex): Select this to scan both sides of text documents.
5. Click 'Specify' and set the preferences as required. Click here for detailed information

6. After making the setting changes, click 'Scan'

7. Click 'Save to PC' or 'Save as PDF file'. Save to PC is displayed when an image is captured with Scan Photo/Document or Batch Scanning

The directions for Batch Scanning, or using the ADF to scan, are shown below.
  1. Place the document(s) in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).
    1. To scan using the ADF, remove any documents from the platen glass.
    2. Open the document tray.

    3. Insert the documents face-up in the ADF and then adjust the document guides.

When scanning using the ADF, the documents will automatically feed.

  2. On the Windows desktop, double-click 'MP Navigator 2.2'.
    1. Alternatively, on the Windows taskbar, click 'Start', point to '(All) Programs', 'Canon', then 'MP Navigator 2.2'.
    2. Then click 'MP Navigator 2.2'. MP Navigator opens.

  3. Click 'Batch Scanning'.

Clean the glass thoroughly using Isopropyl alcohol. Dont use solvents. Check if there is any scratch on the glass. Repeated scanning with stapler pins can scratch the glass. If it is scratched, you may need to chage it.

Scanning

Hi,

Did you tried with any OCR software to convert the Scanned imaged (jpeg) to Word Documen?.Always if you scan anything to an image, it will scan in JPEG format that will consume lot of memory.Scan with OCR(Optical Character Recognition) Software and that will Convert JPEG to word Document which will fix the problem.
The OCR software that i Recommend is ABBY Fine Reader.

Thanks
