If it is a Nokia, try deleting files from Phone's memory (not from the Memory Card).
Nokia has a (should I say) a nasty habit of popping pretty annoying messages about space.
Default settings for the Camera and Bluetooth allow the things to be stored in the Phone's Memory instead of Memory Card which causes this problem.
Check the memory status of your phone if Phone's Memory is about full, there is your problem just delete everything you find useless.

If you are not using a Nokia try the same and if it still doesn't work please specify the Brand and Model of your phone. :)

Samsung Galaxy 4G has 512 MB RAM, most probably it is caused by loading of too many apps in the RAM.
Try finding which applications are running, and close those which you dont need, then see if it makes a difference. Galaxy is known for its memory shortcomings, its elder brother Vibrant is pretty decent in memory department but not Galaxy.
If it still doesn't work, I am afraid you'll have to reset your phone to default settings (hence kicking out all the applications and customizations).

hmm, phone has 64MB internal memory, so it should be ok. Move everything (pics, music etc) to memory card and set memory card as Primary storage.

How do i change my internal memory settings for LG optimus e400?

Internal memory is different than SD card memory. You only have 800MB free on your phone's harddrive, you still have 1GB of space unused on your SD card. Today's apps are large, some are even 1GB big! I would go and purchase at least a 16GB card for your phone. They are around 10 bucks now a days. Then on your phone, go to your settings and select the big apps, there should be an option to move them over to the SD card.

I am continually getting a low storage message in the corner of my phone even though I have deleted apps. It contiues to pop up.

Check the games you have installed on your phone. Some games use up a LOT of your phone's internal memory and some have the option to save most of the data on your SD card instead of the phone's internal. Go to settings > applications > manage applications to see which ones are using the most. I would try to delete some of the games then check the internal afterwards.
If that doesnt work you could always do a full wipe of the phone's memory (wont delete the SD card memory) by going to Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset.

I have not dowloaded anything new but yet i keep getting warnings about main storage being critically low. what can i do about this

Hello,

its trying to tell you that the phone internal memory is low.

All messages and contacts are stored in the phone memory and this makes memory to become full. Also, if you have put any pix, video or music on the phone, it can occupy more of the phone memory.

So it would be better you delete any video, audio or pix that you have installed on your phone. You can as well delete read text messages from the phone in order to free some part of the phone memory.

If your phone can use a memory card, you can transfer your files into it.

Good luck.

Solution: delete some of the stuff on your phone.
