I would contavct your manufacture to make sure also for waranty issues but a general rule of thumb is for best performance use 128 mb for 9x systems and 256 mb for xp / wibdows 2000 systems

You can upgrade the RAM to increase the performance of the Computer. The Computer is shipped with 512MB, PC-2100 DDR RAM and expandable to 1.5GB maximum. How to upgrade RAM memory what to buy and is anything else be upgraded before this

It is a very simple thing to upgrade your Ram which is a great idea since you have only 512 MB. I suggest you buy at least 1 GB or more if you can afford it. Go to the link I am posting and let them scan your computer. They will tell you exactly what you can install and the price. This is a reputable site I use all the time. This will require a download of the scanner tool which is perfectly safe. http://www.crucial.com/

I need RAM for an older Sony PCV computer. The model number on the computer states it's a PCV-470ODS. But NewEgg lists no such computer. They DO list a PCV-407. Are they the same? And what's the most...

My suggestion would be to go to www.crucial.com and run their System Scan.

It works very well, and will tell you what kind it takes, how much you have now, and how much it will hold.

    Thanks for using Fixya.

Install memory upgrade to Sony PCV V210P

Its very simple. You will find the DIMM slots(where you install the RAM) on the motherboard. Just plug the memory into the slot and use the latches on either side of the latch to lock it in place.
This is what a DIMM slot looks like.
