Question about Yard Machines 11A54MC006 21Inch 139cc MTD OHV Gas Powered Side Discharge

1 Answer

The oilcap on the Yardmachine mower is really unusual. It is a small yellow cap that has 2 raised knobs/bumps on it, and no other discernable gripping surface for turning. How do I take this cap off to put oil in?

Sounds like the good old fashioned Briggs engine oil cap. They're designed that way so that if you screw it on too tight (or the crud stops it from turning freely) you can simply put a large screwdriver between the two knobs and use it as a lever to get the cap unstuck. Hope this helps. Good luck.

My 1.4ecotec astra is leaking oil out of oilcap when its closed what cud the cause be

Possibly the seal/gasket on the oil cap is defective. You can try replacing the cap to see if it corrects the problem. You may also have excessive internal pressure within the motor due to an improper functioning PCV system. Inspect/replace the PCV and related hoses for proper operation

I have a 2002 YardMachine, 660 Model, 15.5 HP, 42" Cut. Two Issues. 1) After changing of PTO Cutting Blade Belt, mower lost all power to transmission. No GO F or R. Before belt change, mower would loose...

without looking at the belts i will tell you that the wheels on most mowers only come in a few sizes and are made by just one or two companies. so find a mower or small engine repair shop in the phone book and go get some new wheels and bearings from them. makes it easy if you take an old one with you. while you are there run the belt issue past them and maybe they can give you some guidance.

Where is the oil drain plug?

Do you see a small plastic yellow cap on the side of the engine below the oil dipstick? If so you pop the cap off and use a small plastic tube to drain oil away from frame and slip over the place where the cap came from and push in and turn to the left( I think). When the oil quits draining push in and turn back the opposite way then replace the yellow cap.
