Question about Sony SDX 420C (SDX-420C) AIT Tape Drive

1 Answer

It was working fine and I let it sit for about a year. When I hooked it back up, the three lights in the front just keep flashing and if you look in to the slot, there''s a piece of flat metal that seems to be blocking putting a tape in

To be more specific....I just realized that the metal piece is part of the apparatus. The computer is not recognizing the tape back up machine and the lights on the front continuously flash only after I connect the firewire to the computer.

Hello.

First, power off the system connected to the drive.

To remove metal in a drive, I've used 2 tools: my pinky finger and a plastic knife.

If the slot is too small for a pinky finger to dislodge and remove the metal, try a plastic (not metal) knife.

Be careful not to scratch the drive heads.

Hope this helps.

    Hello, again.

If you wish to take the drive partially apart, please take care or the drive could become damaged.

Remove the drive from the chassis or enclosure to allow access to the bottom and right side of the drive.

    Remove the drive's top cover.

Locate the small opening in the bottom of the drive and insert the tip of a precision screwdriver so that the Threading Motor shaft can be rotated.

Rotate the motor shaft counterclockwise to bring the threading mechanism back to the initial position. Stop rotating the motor shaft immediately, Otherwise the gear of the drive can be damaged.

See if you can remove the flat metal or see where the problem lies.

It's possible that your drive is faulty and needs repair or replacement.

I have a 1978 yamaha xs750 special. The blinkers worked fine on the left, then I hooked up the right side blinkers and nothing. The front right worked well until I hooked up all blinkers, now front right...

I used to have a 76 XS500. Got lots of compliments with that bike.
The wattage of the bulbs is important on how the blinkers work. The rate they flash, and if they flash is dependant on the current being drawn from the lights. Thats why many times if you have one light out the remaining light may stay on solid or flash faster.
You could try removing one bulb on each side and see if the blinkers work. Then reinsert and remove the other remaining bulbs. If they work normally with one bulb in each side whether front or rear then I would suspect the flasher relay.
Say the fronts work when the rear are out and the rear don't work when the fronts are out then I would suspect either the bulbs or sockets or your solder connection or switch.

You may also look into an electronic flasher. They automaticaly adjust for variable loads to flash so they flash at a normal rate.

Screen (f-28) and keep flashing

call for service this is a covered repair. you have something wrong with your motor or a loose connection somewhere. You say this is brand new if it is less than one year it should be 100 percent covered

if they're wireless you need to sync them with the xbox. theres a button on the drumset that is small and round with three smiley lines push that then push the one on the front of the xbox and it should stop flashing and one light will light up. good luck!
