Question about Miele Coffee System

On my CVA615 Miele Coffee System the digital display often reads "Fill Water tank" fault when the tank is already full and it prevent it from working. I can sometimes get it to go out by going through a series of steps. I am assuming that it's some form of sensor problem.

    I did what you suggested and didn't get a flickering #7, but just a #3.

    When the tank was full I did get a #3. Are these switches visible?

    Replace myself... The float in the tank is OK I think, it moves up and down depending on the water level, unless it can just go bad as far as it's effectiveness. How would you get to the mating switch for the float? I am going to check the float again tonight.

    I have that manual, just not real good at electronic diagnostics. Worse case if I can identify the problem can always get a technician to do the rest. Thanks for all your help and I will put a good word in for you and eventually let you know how it all works out.

Hi Kevin,

There is a way to test the water tank switch and the float in the tank.
1. Switch of the coffee machine and make sure the front door is closed.
2. Press and hold the "small coffee" button and the "hot water" button.
3. Turn the selector knob to Program Mode
4. Release the small coffee and hot water buttons.
5. Press the small coffee button again.

If your display shows the #7 as a flickering number, then the water valve needs replacing.

    Kevin,

    Glad you got the flashing 7 off. The #3 indicates that the dispenser container is full and the switch has been activated. Now, If the dispenser is not full and the switch has been activated, giving you the #3, then
    it's possible the dispenser switch needs replacing.

    Before you call for service, I would give these particular parts a good cleaning first. The tank, the switches, and the ground coffee dispenser and switch.

    Then if nothing works, call in a repair person.

    No, they aren't visible, but I can give you instructions on how to get to them and remove them. Removing is not that difficult.
    Or you can take it in for repair.

My Miele 615 Coffee System continually displays "Fill Watertank" Fault when the tank is full, which prevents it from operating. Sometimes I can get it to go after going through series movements...


The water tank has a black float that runs inside a "tunel" in the watertank, and that is somehow conected to the water level sensor; if you are holding the tank and looking down into it, look at the corners to find the little tunel in which this black float runs.
In my unit, this "float" gets stuck down low sometimes (I have very hard sandy water) and I get the same problem, especially during descale. It is usually fixed by opening up the tunel (it has a small tab lid) and cleaning really well with a soft brush. hope this helps!

The machine will say Fill water tank. So, we will take the container out of the machine fill it to or just a little above the recommended line and then put it back into the machine. It will be full and it...


After filling the water tank, can you see if a grey plastic piece, in the back of the water tank, is floating?. If no, then that part needs to be replaced. If it does float, then the integrity of the water sensor, (located in the back of where the water tank is housed into), will need to be tested. Testing this sensor requires, tricking the coffee maker... that the door is closed. With Coffee Maker in the "ON" position, you will need to hold door switch in (located top right corner of unit, with door opened). As switched is held in, you will need to use a magnet and place it around the rear of where the water tank is housed into (Rear-left middle height area)... just around where the water tank float would be, if it were filled with water and inserted into the coffee maker. This sensor isn't visible, but is activated when a magnet is placed around it. If "FILL WATERTANK" message goes away, then replace plastic float or water tank itself.

Miele coffee system CVA 2660 is showing fault #10 while I descale and won't let me finish the program. I restart the program by turning off the system but I get the same fault message after about 20...


F10 is a water intake fault. The are several possibilities: the pump may be defective, a piece of lime scale may have blocked a pipe, the water tank might be faulty. Most likely is the pump.

I have a miele coffee maker and it says "fill water tank" even when it is full. how do i solve this problem?


make sure there is no calcim built up in the water pipes ofyour machine. soewhere along the lines it gets a wrong reading.
you can run a few cups of vinegar in your coffee machine instead of water, then run a couple of cups of water to get rid of the smell of vinegar.

Screen says 'Fill Watertank' when watertank is clearly full.


Sounds like the sensor that detects system water levels has failed.

If you can see it inside try cleaning it or ask Miele for some advice via their website

had same problem. Local Miele experst suggested using turkey baster to **** water out of bottom of unit. Easy solution, problem has not repeated. Sure beats $557!!!

What do i do to clear the ''rinse machine'' message?


Fill up the water tank 150%

Turn the "Milk" knop and have two cups underneath that you can empty regulary. Then just wait and the machine will say Rinsing Finished.

Fill up the water tank completely again, and the machine will ask. "Clean Water" press the big cup knop.
Then the machine should say, *SELFTEST*

You have to buy descaling tablets from miele.  You turn the knob to program mode and keep pushing the enter button until you get to descaling.  You put two descaling tablets into your water reservoir and replace into unit.  Put containers under the steam valve and the hot water wand. Press enter.  Turn steam valve al the way on.  Keep an eye on the containers.  The process takes about 30 to 40 minutes.  The message will appear 'Descaling finished." Turn steam selector to O and press enter.  Display will read "rinse machine, fill watertank.  Fill tank and return to machine.  Place empty containers beneath hot water dispenser and steam nozzle again and turn steam selector fully on. Allow water to run through system completely.  When process is finished, display will read "Rinsing Finished."  Turn steam selector to O and press enter  Program selector is on Program Mode and display will read Descaling, Timrt, unit is no descaled and ready to use.  Turn program selector to on.

Watersystem fault


Thanks for the solution . I fixed my "Watersystem fault" . The wet switch in the unit is activated when water gets into the base of the machine to prevent water damage to the cabinetry .
