Question about Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

We recently had our outside meter exchanged by or Electric company. Everything came back up after power turned off except the range/microwave we had the board replaced but the microwave does not self cancel and does not cancel when door is opened. Any simple fix here?

There appears to be no such fuse. I did encounter a constant shocking feeling when I was touching metal on this unit. KitchenAid Superba Model# KEMC307KBL05. Another thing this board is brand new (just replaced last week). When we returned the power this is the only thing we encountered. The tech who replaced the board told me it might be a "open neutral" Our Elec Co. came by said nothing was wrong but did install a power meter to check for fluctuations. No results as of yet.

    Thanks.

I have not checked the continuity as of yet, but I went to use the microwave part and it only make a sound, no light, turning, etc. It was just working yesterday.

Hi

Simple fix can be to check the fuse located near the power cord, follow the ends of power cord inside the unit, if the fuse is fine then it can be the main board that is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

When the control detects the door is closed then it powers the magnetron and heating begins. However, if the door switch is faulty or there is an issue with the control the heating will not stop when the door is open or closed. Use a multimeter to check the continuity of the door switch. Hope this helps...

If the sound is a loud hum or buzz sound then it is the magnetron that is bad and should be replaced.

Measurements to replace R 1460 over the range microwave

Almost all over the range micros are 30 inches wide. They did make a few 36 inch models but most are 30. Top to bottom back measurement can be between 16 to 18 inches. Most makes are similar in size. Back wall mounting plate will have to be exchanged since each company has a slightly different design but the wall plate comes with the new unit along with mounting hardware.

The problem is more than likely a bad door switch, a digital meter is the best option for testing to find the defective one. If you have one post back for instructions or have serviceman repair it.

A mains surge may have taken out the fuse. To find the fuse, remove it from the mains, remove the outer cover and follow where the power cable enters the case. There will be a PCBoard with a fuse on it.
Always replace the fuse with one of exactly the same type and value!

It does everything except heatinig up food. Model # JVM 3660 SD 001

The magnetron is not working. This open it and check to see if it has a blown fuse. Some microwave would have seperate fuse for the heating power. If fuse is good. You may be able to get a used magnetron from another microwave. Somtimes pawn shops would sell microwave for 5 or ten dollars just because it doesnt have a turnplate inside.

Microwave power turns off after a few sec running incl oven power

I would suggest having whoever installed the new appliances come back and check out his work. There might be a poorly made electrical connection somewhere, and you might have a potential fire hazard.

You might also have gotten a lemon microwave oven. This happens sometimes. (Usually when I buy something.) Contact the store where you purchased it and ask if they have a service person who can check it, or just tell them what's happening and you want a replacement. They'll just return yours to the manufacturer.

In any case, have this checked out to be sure your wiring isn't at fault.

My microwave will not heat. Everything else works.

hello. i can help you.

When the microwave sounds okay, but there's no heat, one of the internal door switches, the high voltage circuitry, or the circuit board may have a problem. To resolve this problem, you need the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.

Have GE JVM2050 over the range microwave, which stopped heating food and water since this morning. All other functions including light, key pad, clock, turntable work normal. The magnetron sound also

if everything works except the heating, it is most likely the mag tube is on its way out.........that is the most common reason for it not too cook.......since the microwave is a GE and it is 3.5 years old, i would say you are better off buying a new microwave, the mag tube starts at around $70.00 and up + the labor it costs too have a service person put it in........around another $60.00

Magic Chef Microwave Shutting Down Problem in RV

your micrwave may run fine at 110 but it draws more power than the generator is putting out when the magnetron kicks on which is the part that creates the microwave causing the food to heat up. In other words the amperage is too low for the microwave. Amperage is what matters not voltage.

Possible power surge?

Sounds like you got a surge which damaged the control panel. This is the most likely thing. We regularly repair these control panels nationwide for $32.50. A fuse is designed protect against excessive current. But if you have excessive voltage (a surge or spike), it can be so fast that it gets past the fuse and damages the control panel without actually blowing it. While the panel does have surge protection to keep that surge from actually destroying the control panel, the panel is damaged and will have to be repaired. If any power line connections were broken or are suspect, I hope you have contacted the power company. Either way, I would test any affected outlets to be sure the neutral and ground are present so the voltage output is within the proper range.
