Question about Bissell SpotBot Robotic Wet/Dry Vacuum

My Bissel Spotbot will only let me use the Manual Mode, when I try to push "Set in Stain" or "Surface" stain the light won't turn on. My children were playing with it, but I don't know what they did. The Manual mode is still working. Any suggestions?

There is a small magnet in the end of the hose. Under the phillips screw and plastic cover. Mine rusted to bits and stopped tripping the switch. A bit of a super strong hard drive magnet siliconed back in the end of the hose and all was fine.

Replaced the hose, a $19.95 part, on my SpotBot; and when re-assembled, same problem; no auto-spot mode. Tried resolution of using an EARTH MAGNET (or "super strong hard drive magnet") and COULDN'T LOCATE SAID SWITCH... Is it possible to attach visual?.? I opened the thing up (again), and couldn't see switch or trigger other than a push-button like switch at END of hose attachment (where you'd snap the brush on). Is this the switch you're referring to?.?

PS- The "wiring diagram" below contains NO WIRING DIAGRAMS AT ALL. Bissell even removed their link to User's Guides...

The local Bissell official repair shop told me that it was a faulty switch, and that the circuit board would need to be replaced. As to why...I don't know.

HOW TO SPOT CLEAN A CARPET
I have a "furry family" of a dog and 2 cats who I love dearly. Unfortunately, my carpet has suffered from several "accidents" and "upset tummies". It is a challenge to find an effective cleaner that cleans the stain, reduces the odor in the carpet, and is reasonably priced.

In the past, I have tried commercial products that were both expensive and ineffective. I have also used vinegar mixed with water and, although it was effective, it did not achieve the results that I would have liked. So one day, I decided to mix a little scented fabric softener in with the vinegar and water and VOILA what a difference! It removed the stain and left the carpet soft and smelling fresh. It has become my preferred method of dealing with pet stains on the carpet.

If you decide to give this a try, be sure to test this solution on an inconspicuous place on your carpet to be sure it does not discolor or lighten it. So far, I have had only good results from its use.

To Spot Clean a small area:

  1. Fill an empty clean spray bottle with equal parts of water and vinegar. Then add a capful of scented fabric softener to the bottle. Shake it up for 30 seconds.

  2. Spray the stained area

  3. Let it sit for 2 minutes and then spray a little more on it.

  4. Rub the stain with a dry cloth until it disappears.

  5. The vinegar odor will fade as it dries and helps to remove the foul smell

  6. Let it dry and you will notice a nice fresh smell and your carpet will be soft.

  7. Once you vacuum, you will have a hard time telling where the stain was.
I have actually used the mixture above in my Bissell Carpet Cleaning machine with good results. It is much less expensive than commercial carpet cleaning solutions. Be sure to read your machine manual or contact the manufacturer to make sure it does not affect its operation. So far my machine is tolerating it well.

This is a personal tip that I just wanted to share with others. I hope you find it useful.

My Bissell Spotbot leaks dirty water

Zupernoc... I was having the same exact problems with my Spotbot Pet that you were having. I ordered the duckbill gasket (1.39 from bissell.com) and so far, so good! Thanks so much for sharing!!! And just for the record...not only was there no duckbill gasket on the unit when I purchased it, it's not even listed in the owner's manual as being part of the unit. Yet if you search for replacement parts on Bissell parts, there it is. Strange! Again, thanks for sharing. Saved me from trashing the thing and purchasing something new.

How to stain and finish plywood bookshelve

Well, you sand perfectly. If not new wood, consider a stain enhancer product. Then try using MINWAX stain, let it completely dry 24 hours or so, and then three coats of Minwax polyurethane, in the sheen (glossyness of your finish) and lightly sand with 280 or so, before the last coat.

Solution not coming out

The solution is to throw the piece of junk out! Last week my BISSEL upright rug shampooer stopped spraying and I did all the *fixes* that I could find on the internet, short of new parts. It's in the Trash now. Today my BISSEL SpotBot stopped spraying...I've used it maybe 10 times. BISSEL makes junk, IMO.

SpotBot: all lights flashing!

Per the manual, periodically you should clean the rubber lining in the dirty water tank(it comes out). I found mine a little dirty, but after cleaning it, it solved my 'all lights flashing' problem.
