There could be a problem with the firmware.
go to
http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/linksys/E3000
download the latest firmware for your router and reflash.
it could fix/resolve any bugs for your router.

Only one ethernet port works

http://support.linksys.com/en-us/support/routers/E3000
Download the newest firmware for that router (be sure to get the right version number, this is VERY important) and see if that helps. if it doesn't help, It sounds like you have a router that is going bad.

How to replace linksys-g home router with linksys e3000

Use the laptop with a network cable to check connection. Just connect the NEW? e3000 to the ISP modem. It should work right from the start. If the e3000 is not new, there is a reset in the back.Hold it till it cycles.

The wireless on the laptop should pick up the new router as a new network.

You can even go further back by cycling the ISP modem as well.

Linksys E3000 Wireless Connectivity Problems the router is excessively hot too. Can connect with ethernet cables I have cable mode and the cable company sees my lan card I can get internet connected via...

That excessive hot temperature of your router is not a good sign, it means that something is wrong with it and the problem is hardware base and in just a few more days or weeks the router will eventually stop working even when using ethernet cable.

The best thing to do here if the router is still new and under warranty is to have it replace from store or from where you purchased it.

My new cisco E3000 router works fine for my labtop. but for my ipodtouch i doesn't let me on. It say's there is a passcode

Hello,
Its asking for the wireless security password by default it will be printed on the base of the router. If you haven't changed the default password then you can use that to connect to your wireless network using your ipod touch. If u have changed the password or you not able to find it then we need to log in to the router interface and retrieve it. 1) We need to log in to the router using the default gateway. Press windows + r u will get a run box..in the run box type CMD and hit enter. You will get a black screen. In the black screen type "ipconfig" and hit enter. Now you will see IP add/ sub net mask and defualt gateway. Make a note of your default gateway. 2) Open internet explorer or any browser and deleted everything from the address bar and type .."http://(default gateway..) (Ex: http://192.168.1.1) and hit enter. 3) Now you will be in the router interface. Now you will see either security or wireless click on the option and find something which says password or wireless security and click on that. 4) Now you will see your existing password. You can either make a note of it or change only the password or change the security type ( WEP or WPA) and click on OK/save. Now remeber that if u change the password you will have to reconnect all your wireless devices and if you are using the same network name( wireless name) then you have get a error on your computers or devices as the network doesnt match the requirements. Hence you can either delete the preferred network from your computer( if you want the same network name). To delete you can go to control panel and manage wireless network and delete the current network name and re-connect or you can change the network name( SSID ) on the router interface to a new name which is not saved on your computer and re-connect to your wireless network using all your devices.

Hope this helped

Just got a new linksys e3000 router. all other laptops working fine except one toshiba with vista. i have another toshiba with vista that is working fine also though. it will connect wirlessly if i disable...

You have to update the wireless adapter driver on the toshiba website. I'm guessing you have an Atheros adapter because those usually have this problem. The driver is not advanced enough to log onto a WPA or WPA2 encryption, WEP will work fine. The driver updates have a 50/50 chance of fixing the problem otherwise you are stuck with WEP.

Unable to connect to my wireless network connection (SSID still VISIBLE)

Log on to the router, go to your wireless setup page. Disable wireless, reboot it and when it comes back up, enable wireless once more with a different pre-shared key. You'll need obviously to enter this new key into your laptops. Let me know if this solves the problem.
