OK AZRAELSRL lets quit guessing, you know as well as I do you can.t move the magnet on this type of motor. I am paying you for your expertise if you can't help me point me to someone that can. I checked all the things you told me to. Now lets figure nthis thing out .This is a husqavurna. 22 hp twin ohv with a briggs motor .It fires on the first turn but it backfires thru the carb. The flywheel is cast and the magnet has a phillips screw that I can't move because it is centered with black hard plastic at each side of it. I have double checked the coil 2 of them and they are set right I checked the key and it is new and ok too. Yhe coils are supposed to set at 0.08 and 0.12 right? I dont know what else to look for.

The timing of the ignition is off - too early. You will need to dismantle the ignition module from the motor and realign it.

In your Intek motor the ignition is generated by a magneto: the ignition coil is on a armature attached to the case of the engine and in front of it passes a magnet attached to the flywheel . If the flywheel magnet or the armature are out of place the timing is off so you need to check them both.

  • Azrael SRL May 27, 2011

By the way, if you have a latest (last 5 years) model then the ignition also has an electronic module: the module is the one attached to the case and it drives a separate coil . So it's the electronic module you must inspect.

  • Azrael SRL May 28, 2011

In the older models a big magnet attached to the flywheel passes in front of the armature of the coil and induces the spark in it. In newer models the magnet is a lot smaller and passes in front of an electronics module where it triggers the spark which is now generated in a separated coil, electronically. If the position of the magnet or the armature/module is not correct the spark will appear at the wrong time - in your case early. You must check it the armature/module is correctly bolted on the motor's case and if the magnet is correctly attached to the flywheel and the flywheel is in its correct position on the engine's shaft - it might have been installed incorrectly.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignition_ti... - in your case the timing is determined by the position of the magnet on the flywheel . To adjust it you will have to dismantle the casing of the engine to access the flywheel and move the magnet anti-clockwise.

How do you replace PTO switch on a 2654 husqavarna mower?

You will have to reach under the dash and remove the wiring connector from the PTO switch. There are tabs on the underside holding the switch in place ( see photo ). take a screw driver and push the tabs on one side at the same time gently pull on the switch from the top side.

X520 jd mower trouble

Sounds like a problem with the governor. Start it up. Don't engage the blades. Drive to a hill. Idle all the way down. Try driving up the hill. The motor should pick up when it slows while pulling up the hill. If it doesn't, the governor isn't working right.

I have a Husquvarna riding mower. When I start the engine it blows the 20 amp fuse. After replacing the fuse, the motor turned and blew the fuse again. Any ideas?

Do a couple of good bounces on the seat, check the clutch brake pedal switch for clicks and then look at the PTO clutch. More ofthen than not the wires around the PTO clutch get damaged by the belt and short to the chassis. If this does not help you identify the problem... you will have to use a meter with the key on and the POSITIVE terminal disconnected from the battery (isolated) seatching for chassis grounds. You will need a new fuse installed while troubleshooting. When a ground is found with the key ON.... check to see if you have that same ground on the alternator terminal of the key switch. Usually terminal A or A1.

Check out this diagram.. it is typical of all riding mowers... http://c.searspartsdirect.com/lis_png/PLDM/1006648P-00012.png

Mostly the top part of the schematic for safety switches and the starter Jumper white to white on the PTO clutch wires and see if it will turn over. Result = No check to make sure the clutch / brake pedal switch is being made when you depress the brake. Next install the Seat switch jumpers black to black and gray to gray for TESTING only and attempt a start. Last... use a longer jumper and connect White wire of PTO to the solenoid small ( + ) terminal and try a start. If it starts here the clutch / brake switch is bad. You can do this.. it is not hard. Just a matter of sorting out which switch is not working. Something to try before installing jumpers... Bounce on the seat pretty hard several times and cycle the clutch / brake pedal through full stroke. I.e fully depressed and then pull it all the way to the top for 5 or 6 cycles. Then attempt start. your carbs are dirty. and probably need to be balanced also... bring the bike bto a garage and have them cleaned by a profesional.... also after market pipes don't give your bike the proper back pressure .. that can mess up your carbs timing
