If the squeak only developed after changing the toner cartridge then I would say yes it could very well be the cartridge. Particularly if it is a generic brand.
I have found that most squeaks in printers are caused by the toner/drum cartridge

My hp 3500 is making a sqeaky noise before it prints. the page comes our beautifully but the noise is disturbing.

I have found these printers to be noisy at the best of times, but bad cartridges can add another level of noise to things. Squeaky cartridges are not uncommon, particularily if they are remanufactured cartridges and not orignal HP products.

My oki c3400 printer makes a really loud clicking noise when you first turn printer on and it cycles through, and it also does it when it cycles through printing. Any ideas what the problem could be?

My OKI C3300 was the same and an engineer found the Cyan drum was bouncing on its gears being very stiff to turn. We changed the drum but it was still the same. Changing the cartridge cured the problem, that was jamming the drum.

Oki C5500 printer has ghosting on most of the prints. After making a number of copies, the ghosting is greatly diminished and the copies are OK but not great. Started a couple of weeks ago. I have refilled...

This type of print problem associated with laser printers is due to the corono wire needing to be changed. The wire is not fully pulling the toner off of the drum completely. If you can access it, cleaning it may help (usually a lever that you are supposed to run back and forth a few times that wipes the corona wire). If the cleaning doesn't help, then it probably needs replacing.

Squeaky HP printer

Typically the squeaking comes from the toner cartridge. If you just purchased it, take it back, it's bad. If you can find an identical printer, swap cartridges and see if it makes a difference.

OKI C5400 & Vista

Assuming that you are using the same paper and have not changed any of the consumables you should do the following:

1. Clean LED head with lens cleaner or soft tissue.
  1. Remove the toner cartridge and give it a few shakes then reinstall it.
  2. The Toner Could be low so Change toner cartridge.
4. Make sure that the paper is not damp as this will cause fading and poor quality printing and images.
  1. The image drum may have been light contaminated so remove it from the printer and store it in a totally dark place for several hours then reinstall it.
  2. If the image drum is dirty then wipe it very gently with soft tissues, being careful not to scratch it.
  3. Open the top cover and check to be sure that each toner cartridge is fully seated and that each toner cartridge lock lever is pushed all the way back.
  4. Press the top cover release latch and open, then close, the cover.
  5. Check MEDIA MENUTRAY1 MEDIA TYPE and set as required. Do the same for TRAY2 and MPT.
  6. Check MEDIA MENUTRAY1 MEDIA WEIGHT and set as required. Do the same for TRAY2 and MPT.
  7. Possibly set the value of media weight in the menu to the next heaviest one.
  8. Check PRINT MENURESOLUTION setting and set to 600 x 1200DPI
  9. Check PRINT MENUTONER SAVE MODE and make sure this is OFF
  10. Check PRINT MENU – MONO PRINT SPEED and make sure this is set to MIXED SPEED

OKI C5200 - Faded black print area

Trying cleaning the black LED's that are on the top portion of the open clamshell. Use rubbing alcohol on a rag and wipe each bar x4/. These units charge the drum surface where print is going. This should work.

Oki C5150N Grinding noise

One of the drum cartridges is stuck. Test by removing them one at a time with the printer off, then turning on.

Oki C9500 makes VERY LOUD clunking noises but prints fine...

The sound is most probably from one (or more) of the drum units. You can check by taking them out and trying to run the visible gears by hand. If you have spare drums, change them one at a time until you find the defective one.
