What type of dual core processor can I use for my dc7600?

The motherboard for the dc7600 has an Intel LGA775 processor socket. However, not all LGA775 processors are compatible with the motherboard. For the small form factor, the following CPUs are supported: Intel Celeron D Processors:
Intel Celeron D 331 Processor (2.66-GHz, 256K L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB) , Intel Celeron D 336 Processor (2.80-GHz, 256K L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB) , Intel Celeron D 346 Processor (3.06-GHz, 256K L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB)
Intel Pentium 4 Processors with HT Technology:
Intel Pentium 4 521 Processor (2.8-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB) , Intel Pentium 4 524 Processor (3.06-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB) , Intel Pentium 4 541 Processor (3.2-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 620 Processor (2.8-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 630 Processor (3.0-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 631 Processor (3.0-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 640 Processor (3.2-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 641 Processor (3.2-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 650 Processor (3.4-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 651 Processor (3.4-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 661 Processor (3.6-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB) or
Intel Pentium D Dual Core Processors:
Intel Pentium D 805 Dual Core Processor (2.66-GHz, 2x1MB L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 820 Dual Core Processor (2.8-GHz, 2x1MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 915 Dual Core Processor (2.8-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 925 Dual Core Processor (3.0-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 930 Dual Core Processor (3.0-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 940 Dual Core Processor (3.2-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 945 Dual Core Processor (3.4-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 950 Dual Core Processor (3.4-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB)

Unfortunately, these are old processors and I don't see any available new. Newegg.com lists a couple available as refurbished. You may be better off getting a new computer with either a Intel I3 or current AMD processor.

I wish that I had better news for you.

(do not attempt to use a CPU that your motherboard doesn't support. It probably won't boot.)

Dimensions

Dell Support > Dimension 8300 Desktop PC > Main Support Page,

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim8300/sm/index.htm

Left-click on - Technical Specifications - in the list.

Left-click on - Physical - in the list.

Height: How tall the computer tower is. Outside edge to outside edge measurement.
Width: How wide the computer tower is. Outside edge to outside edge measurement.
Depth: How long the computer tower is. Outside edge to outside edge measurement.

If you meant Specifications instead;

A) Processor:
Intel Celeron, or Pentium 4, that uses a Socket 478 processor socket.
Either a 533MegaHertz Front Side Bus, or an 800MHz FSB.

(Dell also indicates the Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition processors are supported. Too expensive for what you get in return)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_478

B) Ram Memory:
DDR Sdram that operates at 333MHz, or 400MegaHertz.
PC2700 and PC3200 respectively.

Maximum TOTAL Amount is 4GigaByte
There are 4 Ram Memory slots. EACH slot has a Maximum Amount of 1GB.

C) Motherboard Chipset:

Northbridge chip: Intel 875P. (Part Number Intel 82875P )

(For Intel the Northbridge chip is the MCH, for this particular Northbridge chipset.
Memory Controller Hub)

The Southbridge chip is an Intel 82801EB (Part Number) or Intel 82801ER (P/N)
Commonly known as the Intel ICH5, or Intel ICH5R.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets#Pentium_4_chipsets

In the chart go down on the right side to - 875P

Looking across, and at the headings, you can see under the heading - Processors, that there are more Intel processors supported, than just the Intel Celeron's, and Pentium 4's.

Core2 Duo, Core2 Quad, Core2 Extreme, Pentium Dual Core, and Xeon.

Problem is they don't use a Socket 478 processor socket.
All except for the Xeon ( 'Zee-On' ) use an LGA 775 processor socket.
Xeon models use a Socket 603, or Socket 604, or LGA 771, processor socket.

It is just processors that the Intel 875P chipset will support.

D) Graphics Expansion Slot:

AGP
Uses AGP 8X graphics cards.

I bought a pentium 4 3.0 ghz 800 mhz & my

The motherboard chipset of the Dell Dimension 2300 Desktop PC, will not support a processor with an 800MHz Front Side Bus frequency rate.

Only Intel Pentium 4's that use a Socket 478, 1.75 Volts, and a maximum of a 400MHz FSB.

The Intel Pentium 4 HT 3.0GHz processor has an 800MHz FSB, (As you have already stated), and uses 1.475 to 1.55 Volts.

The motherboard chipset for that Dell Dimension 2300, is an Intel 845GL.

This list on Wikipedia, shows you parameters the Intel 845GL chipset supports,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets#Pentium_4_Chipsets

Not a good outcome, sorry. Just stating the facts.

I have IBM p6 motherboard with processor Intel 1.8ghz/256/400/1.75v Processor had demaged. I replaced with Intel 1.8ghz/512/400/1.525v When I starts the system it gave error "0167 no processor bios...

I suggest this is not going to work.
1.Your motherboard is supplying 1.75 DC volts of electricity to the processor socket.
You have installed either a SSpec number SL68Q, or SL62P,
Intel Pentium 4 processor. (The sSpec number is on the top of the processor case)

These Intel Pentium 4 processors use 1.425 to 1.525 DC volts of electricity. If you haven't already, you are going to burn this processor up.

Also, the Intel Pentium 4 that you had before, is based on the Willamette Core. (180nm) These earlier Pentium 4's did not have HT.
Hyperthreading Technology.

The Intel Pentium 4 you have in it now, is based on the Northwood Core. (130nm) These Pentium 4's come with HT.

Even if you could go into your BIOS Setup utility, and change the CPU voltage, and lower it, the HT in the processor you have now, wouldn't work on this motherboard.
(CPU stands for Central Processing Unit. Another name is Microprocessor, or simply -> Processor)

You won't be able to lower the voltage in BIOS Setup, for this processor. IF you did, then you would change the Front Bus Speed, and the ram memory wouldn't work.

Solution?
Obtain an Intel Pentium 4 processor, that uses the Socket 478 processor socket, has a 400MHz FSB, and is based on the Willamette Core.

Here is a list of Willamette Core, Intel Pentium 4 Microprocessors, that will work,

No, this highest the P-II went to was either 400 or 450 Mhz. Upgrading a thinkpad CPU may be difficult. Considering prices on used laptops now, I wouldn't think it would be worthwhile, either.
